Speaker Suitable for Baby/Children - Wall Mount I am in the same boat and I think you are right on track with getting everything out of the reach of little hands, here is what I have done:I built a pair of very substantial shelves which I bolted into studs on the back wall with three 2.5" lag s...
Speaker and interconnect recommendations I would recommend that you give Audio Magic products a try, IC's or cables. I have not heard the cables first hand, but I find their IC's to be outstanding in my system.
best wife friendly monitor? I would look into Sonus Faber (many models depending on your budget). To my eye they are some of the most attractive looking monitors made, and are of course world class speakers. Their use of Walnut in many of their models may also allow them to ...
A suggestion for an often asked question: Europas Agree with both of you. This speaker appeals to such a broad range of budgets that I think a lot of people (myself included) attempt to use more budget-minded amplification. In other words, I'd say there are far fewer people trying the c370 with a...
Good monitors used under $1000? Dawgcatching,Before purchasing the Europas I actually did listen to the Von Schweikert VR-1. It's really not on the same page with the Europas IMO. I just wasn't all that impressed with the VR-1, but to be fair, it was not exactly an ideal room, s...
Education: Best place for Audio Engineering? Nicholas,Someone that you may want to speak with is Roy Johnson of Green Mountain Audio. He is the owner and designer at GMA, I believe he has a physics background. He is a really nice guy who really knows his stuff, and he may be willing to give ...
Is there anything better than the NAD 320bee I'm not sure what your power requirements are, but the NAD c370 would be a great choice at this price point too. I got mine for less than $500 delivered (new). I have not heard the 320bee, but I really enjoy the c370. It has loads of power and fun...
Preamp or "U" jumpers: where to buy, choices? Funny how these threads pop back up. Since I posted this I had them made for me by Signal Cable. Since its basically just a short IC Frank made me a pair for $25, basically a very short Analog2. They work great, a good tweak for the money.
Epos M12.2 vs. Von Schweikert VR 1 vs. GMA Europas I have not heard the Epos speakers, but like Phasecorrect, I have compared the VR1's and the Europas. It really was no contest, GMA hands down. To be fair, I did not listen to the VR1's under ideal circumstances. I "auditioned" them at my local Tw...
GMA Europa owners.... Abbeydog,Good to hear from you on this, if I remember correctly we have a very similar system other than CDP. I have had good luck with a relatively inexpensive SACD player, the sony 222es. I'm really wanting to try Excaliber II's with it and the ...
GMA Europa owners.... Eric,Thanks, thats good info. Upgrading to AM IC's is at the top of my upgrade list, but the Sorcerer's are just not in the budget. I'll definitely look into the Excaliber II's.Freaky,As far as integrateds go, Roy highly recommended the Blue Circl...
GMA Europa owners.... Matty,How do you like the AM cables? Could you give us your opinion of them as compared to others you may have tried?
GMA Europa owners.... I've been using Signal Cable IC's and cables with the Europas, and have really enjoyed them. But in talking with Roy it seems that his clear favorite is Audio Magic, next best Analysis Plus. He likes the AM IC's a LOT. I asked his opinion on ampli...
Best Integrated for 400 dollars Not sure how much power you want/need, but the NAD c370 is a great value around this price. A conservative 120wpc. If you don't need or want that kind of power the NAD 3020 is great too. At this price point NAD is tough to beat IMO.
WAF, Help, Need Strategy Do you have a closet nearby? That is how I got around the issue, I put the gear in the closet and only the speakers in the LR. So long as the closet isn't too small there is no real problem with heat, and it keeps the dust down too. The downside i... |
