Ampzilla 2000 v2 and Mcintosh MC402
I have been in A/V retail for 30 years. I have had the pleasure of facility tours of 2 major high end electronic manufactures. The most important take away from both tours is that their products are designed to work and sound their best in a compl...
What's going on with the used audio gear market?
I have been in A/V retail for 30 plus years and I can tell you in the absolute truth that prices in audio, excluding tv's, have risen 30 to 50% in 2 years. A Marantz receiver that sold for 799.99 in 2020 is $1499.99 now & B&W 704's, the sm...
Sub Confusion
You can email or contact REL customer support and speak to 1 of their technical support staff. They were most helpful when I was changing out my equipment and integrating my existing RELs. John Hunter and staff are true audio professionals.
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
I think the thing that matters in the end is what sounds best to the listener & how the speaker sounds in the room with the paired electronics. No matter what the opinion is,  the end result is a dice roll.
Speakers need to be placed close to back wall. Help
Acoustic Suspension design, also known as a sealed box is preferable for close to to a wall install. Even better would be a acoustic suspension design with room boundary compensation. Unfortunately, you would have to some research. I have the same...
What cause tweeters hiss ?
I have owned many expensive and moderately priced amps over the years and none are dead silent. If you can't hear from your listening chair don't worry about it. If you have to know, then you have to isolate what is the source. So the only way to ...
Can moving wire location at circuit breaker reduce hum?
I installed a cooktop about 3 years ago and it became nightmare of noise in my REL subs. At first, I had no idea what was making my subs hum. It wasn't a ground loop. I sent them to Pyramid Audio and they found no problem. I have 4 dedicated lines...
Beware poor sounding media
All systems are only as good as their weakest link which more often than not is the source material. One of streamings limitations, despite the claimed hi-rez format, is there is no way trace the source material or the remastering engineer. So 1 a...
Do power conditioners help with unwanted hum/noise
Step 1 is to determine the source of the buz or noise. Is it a ground loop? Is it a noise generated by an external device like a dimmer or appliance? Is it DC on the line. Ground loops are heard through the speakers or subwoofer & DC is usuall...
Need Recommendations for a pair of Speakers around $1,000
Kef Q350 bookshelf  in walnut: $750 + speaker stands should be just under $1000.00
Buying New TV Need A Soundbar Recommendation
Sound bars are like speakers so you need listen to them, narrow it down, then purchase for  home trial. Best Buy has 2 week refund if you don't like it. JBL makes 2 affordable models 2.1 & 5.1 $350 & $599. They are straight forward and eas...

MC901 monoblock tube matching Q
It makes no sense to change tubes on a brand new amp. I don't think Mac would put inferior tubes in their statement monoblocks. I have a C1100 with the stock tubes & the sound is fantastic. Mac tech support told me that preamp tubes are good f...
An electrical engineer on how power cables can impact sound quality
This discussion on power cables is an endless waste of time and energy.
BIG difference Tidal vs Amazon Music
I would think that volume matching would be important: Streaming services may not play at the same level so the louder one will sound better to most people. I tried comparing Tidal to my Hard Drive with the files ripped to the AIFF format(full CD ...
