Atma-Sphere MA-1 amps
The most truthful-sounding amps I've heard, but not everyone prefers such a presentation. The better the recording, the more you will hear the amps' virtues - if you listen mainly to compressed pop/rock you can do as well for much less cache. A fu...
DCS Puccini and/or Soulution 740 players? Anyone??
A used Verdi/Purcell or Verdi Encore ahead of a Scarlatti DAC is a nice way to evolve toward Scarlatti separates. It's what I currently use and, frankly, I'm in no hurry for a Scarlatti transport. If one has a sufficiently high quality transport/d...
bass in the room
How deep's the primary null at your listening position and at what frequency? Just how "ragged" is the frequency response at your listening position between 30Hz-150Hz? If significant, move your sub or listening position (or both - whatever's most...
Balanced or Unbalanced?
I agre with you, Lush: Too much deliberately confusing info is being set out there by manufacturers. It's why I'll only buy from manufacturers, like Ralph, who will talk with you if needed for you to understand what you're getting.
What If?
Salk Songtowers are relatively inexpensive floorstanders with a small footprint and s/b be relatively easy to move "out the way".
Lessloss PC for digital source or power amp?
I'm very happy with LessLoss PCs on my digital source gear.I prefer PS Audio Statement SC PCs for my monoblock amps.
HT magic link two and ridge street Poiema xlr
I own both the HT Magic Link 1 and RSA P3s, both balanced. The Ridge Street P3 is by far the more transparent cable. It is in the top echelon with the very best cables I've had in my system, including Stealth Indras and Siltech G6 Forbes Lake. Ini...
Esoteric P-05/D-05...... AES digital cable?
Liudas of LessLoss will build an AES/EBU digital cable for you. I own two and they're quite good. About $300 a short while back.
Warm copper speaker cables under $500 new
Consider the Oyaide PA-02 ICs. Furukawa manufactured continuous cast copper wire, about $130 per 1m pair (won't lose much in resale) - what's not to like for a trial?
Help with Siltech G5 series ICs
Thanks for your responses!jb
Dcs Verona vs Scarlatti master clock
Suchart: It was a while back, but I believe about $300.
Dcs Verona vs Scarlatti master clock
I use LessLoss RCA SPDIF digital cable from the Lector transport to the Purcell and a pair of LessLoss AES/EBU cables from Purcell to Scarlatti. I've no desire to upgrade from those cables. You may consider emailing Liudas at LessLoss. I believe h...
dynamic range -the good and bad?
Someone in a recent AA post referred to this problem as "gain chasing". He contended that the better the system, the less it compels one to "gain chase" with very broad dynamic range recordings. Interesting concept.
Dcs Verona vs Scarlatti master clock
To clarify my last post, my non-dCS transport is a Lector DigiDrive with DEXA clock mod. I mentioned it only to make the point that the Scarlatti DAC extracting clock data out of the data stream from a good transport (at about 10-15% the cost of t...
Newform research
If you're interested in ribbon/dynamic hybrids, you may consider line arrays. Selah Audio can design around compatible ribbons and midbasses. Mine use Fountek NeoPro 5i ribbons and Scanspeak Revelator 18W-8531 midbasses and sound spectacular, albe...
