Atma-Sphere S-30 MK3
My Atma "resume": I'd used M-60s for a few years and upgraded to MA-1s almost a year ago. Does the "hardness" occur at at both modest and loud volumes? Has it "been there" and "not" on the same recordings, but during different listening sessions? ...
Emerald Physics CS2 at low volume?
Always nice to read a thread on low volume listening - way better for your irreplaceable hearing in the long run. Some (including me) consider low volume performance (resolution/ imaging/bandwidth) one of the most prized qualities of a great music...

Dcstep:I've copied below the questions I posed to you in my prior post, which I'm hoping you will answer.>>>>Neither I nor the first respondent (Mikelavigne) has written a bold faced lie; yet, are our claims any LESS subjective than wo...

#1 Dcstep states: "So, your unequivical agreement with Newly must have indeed been baseless."In the first item of my 8-31-08 posting I clarified very specifically the extent to which I agreed with Newly. What about the phrase, "nothing more, nothi...

To Dcstep:I hereby append my prior "baseless claim" as follows: my opinion based on my experience with other digital i have heard is that the dCS Scarlatti DAC might be on another level compared to anything out there. but i have not had everything...

A response to my 8-30-08 post appeared this morning then promptly vanished. To that poster:1. I agree with Newly in that the dCS Scarlatti DAC is a part of the best digital source I have ever heard - nothing more, nothing less.2. I have not directl...

I agree with Newly. I use a good transport (Lector with aftermarket clock) through a dCS Purcell to send 24/176 dual AES into a Scarlatti DAC. My digital cables are LessLoss RCA between transport and upsampler, LessLoss dual AES to Scarlatti ($250...
Building first 2 channel system, need cable advice
Look into Oyaide PA-02 cables. Uses Furukawa-supplied PCOCC ("Ohno Continuous Cast") copper, well-built and inexpensive relative to the "field".

Honest1:The two outlet surge protector at www.brickwall.com is all I use for my MA-1 amps. The best protection for your amp investment.

Go to: www.diycable.comOrder the required length of "Canare 4S11" wire and the required number of Exodus "EX_BANA" banana connectors (yes, $5.25/pr but worth it). This should fall just within your budget for the two cables of 55 or so foot combined...

Please let's not forget that the Chinese-manufactured 6SN7s are actually very nice tubes. I've paid a bit of a premium for Sophia tester "A matched" metal base military pieces from DIY HiFi Supply, but still only $18 apiece.Matched pairs of Baldwi...
Atma-Sphere MA-1 amps
Amp-loudspeaker matching is no less important with Atma amps as with any other amps. I tried to make M-60s work with Talon Firebird Diamonds even using autoformers, but ultimately determined the match unsatisfactory to my ears. My present line arr...
