Help in isolating a TT with spring suspension. Have you verified (with a gauge)that the stylus is at the correct tracking force? If your table uses a "spring" anti-skating system, has its proper functioning been checked?

Anyone have an opinion, Jico SAS stylus? Dave, Thirty to fifty years ago engineers at Shure, Stanton, Ortofon, Dual, Garrard, Thorens and the like simply didn't understand what makes for great vinyl lp reproduction like "we" do now.Get over it and move on ;)

What would a mat do for my Garrard 301 turntable I recently ordered a "Custom Design (Company) Inert Turntable Matt", made in the UK. It's in transit. It's supposed to work well with "ringing" metal platters, such as my Dual TT has. Better than the stock rubber mat?Dunno yet.jb
new reference in the german Stereo: Einsten the .. I don't get out to shows and the like, but I've no doubt that the Einstein, Nagra and other top tier digital sources are likely very satisfying. As you have heard some of the current dCS gear, you may want to give the Scarlatti line a good listen....

Where to best upgrade - TT, arm or phono stage? Thank you to all for your advice and feedback.I will upgrade to the Bottlehead Eros phono stage and sell my Seduction, etc to fund it. While the Eros is an unproven unit, my experience with its less costly sibling justifies my choice. I also have ...
Where to best upgrade - TT, arm or phono stage? I don't know if arms other than the Tabriz will drop in. It'd be nice to expand choices that don't require major surgery.I appreciate the feedback on the Tabriz ZI!
Where to best upgrade - TT, arm or phono stage? Almost all my lps are 30-50 years old and most have taken some hard use during my college years. I've only very recently assembled the vinyl source gear, and my goal is to enjoy spinning the lp collection I now have. I did buy a VPI record cleanin...
Best Recordable Media? The well-regarded Taiyo Yuden was recently on closeout in bulk packaging at 20 cents each through American Digital, if memory serves.
Any feedback on the Nagaoka MP 30 cartridge? I'm hoping to spend about $300 for a nice MM.I will using a refurbished Dual CS-704, now on its way from Germany. The table has an Otrofon Super OM-10.I see new OM-40 styli for a low as $200, and I'd appreciate any thoughts on the Super OM-40 as a...
Looking to get a turntable. Sufentanil,I, too, am keeping an open mind about direct drives. While I now have a Roksan Radius 5, a fellow in Germany just today shipped to me a Dual CS-704 semi automatic direct drive he has refurbished. All I need do is attach a US ac plug.For...
sony scd-777 dac vs PS Audio DLIII DAC Don't know any more about these two pieces other than what I've read but, if I were a CD and not SACD listener, I'd most likely purchase the PS Audio DAC directly from Cullen Circuits. I would choose their Level III or level IV mods that include a... |
