It is still broken.
Purifi Class D: Junk?
That was the least of the issues I pointed out. But oh well..
Purifi Class D: Junk?
The power supply has at least as much influence on the sound as does the input buffer, so "all that is left" is not just the Purifi module. Further, the Hypex input buffer was never intended as a finished product. It is about as simple a circuit a...
Purifi Class D: Junk?
@douglas_schroeder - I don't think you read this thread very carefully. This isn't about DIY (although I don't personally share your skepticism about DIY). The OP purchased a commercial product using the Purifi module, a basic SMPS and cheap input...
Purifi Class D: Junk?
To be fair, Purifi does not sell their module with this input buffer. In fact, they don't sell their products to the public at all except to the DIY community. The amp you bought includes a buffer that wasn't even designed with the Purifi module i...
HDMI (i2s) recommendations for Denafrips Gaia -> Terminator
@docroasty - I appreciate your input. It does give me a bit more confidence to try one or two of the artisan cables. At least many of these are specifically intended for use as an i2s interconnect, which is more than you can say about AQ. As you p...
HDMI (i2s) recommendations for Denafrips Gaia -> Terminator
I am aware of the issues with i2s, and agree that keeping the cable length short is desirable. Most devices that support I2S between boxes (including the Denafrips products) use additional buffering (generally LVDS - low voltage differential signa...
HDMI (i2s) recommendations for Denafrips Gaia -> Terminator
That's good to hear that you didn't have problems with the longer tubulus cable. Did you have a change to compare the Vodka 48 to the Tubulus? My Gaia should arrive Monday or Tuesday and I'm going to try it out with the AES cable I have first, and ...
HDMI (i2s) recommendations for Denafrips Gaia -> Terminator
Thanks for the info. I'm tempted by the Tubulus, but I'm hoping to use a shorter length since I've heard from other Denafrips owners that longer connections can have issues. I assume that the AQ Vodka you had was not the Vodka 48? How would you co...
HDMI (i2s) recommendations for Denafrips Gaia -> Terminator
Thanks @docroasty. Do you have any comments on the differences between these cables. I had not heard of the phasure or pink faun cables before.
HDMI (i2s) recommendations for Denafrips Gaia -> Terminator
Thanks for the pointer. That one looks like a possibility. No one else using i2s over HDMI? I've also looked at the Tubulus Argentus https://www.highendcableshop.com/product/tubulus-argentus-i2s-cable/ which has some recommendations on WBF.

SuperBestAudioFriends is just a discussion forum as far as I know. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to sign up. I found an audiogon member that was also a member on that site that sent a message to their administrators, so hopefully they'l...
High end Class D amps?
@noble100 - I'm wondering if part of your improved satisfaction having inserted the ML preamp in the chain is a lower impedance, stronger drive capability of the preamp compared to the Oppo. I've found that even a very neutral preamp with a fairly...
An audio rack that really does make a difference.
I'm a proponent of putting the rack at the side of the room and keeping the space between the speakers open. The best results I've gotten are from using long(ish) balanced cables to monoblock amps which sit directly behind (or just to the side of)...
DAC's Made in the USA
I'll add my vote for Schiit. You may be able to find a used Yggdrasil A2 for $1500. A new Gungnir Multibit is within your budget. Both of these are great values and made in the US.
