Vinyl NOOB questions
vinyl is a lawless land, where the only thing that determines your ultimate enjoyment is your ability to feed your library. my advice is to keep the hardware simple...don't dig too deep a hole(mm is fine)...and don't expect any concrete sonic reve...
Best "dark side of the moon"
close to audiofeil's number(11 total), and whats funny is it isn't even one of my favorite records...i've heard it way too many times....its saf to say, the latest emi version is fine, and you won't have to sell your firstborn to buy.

Fed Ex Ground Shipping Woes
its been my experience that fed ex air and fedex ground are 2 different levels of service as well. the shipper in any event is the insurer..not the receiver.

Onkyo A-9555 and Benz Ace L: step-up? preamp?
johnnyb53 makes a great point. i would nix the benz for a better high output cartridge, and use the onkyo. no disrespect to the ace, but there are comparable carts for less money.
With $20,000 in your hand, what speaker would you
if i were retired, and had 20g's to blow, my audio hobby would be well down my list of things to do.
Where's the bass?
the L7's don't boom at all, they just have incredibly low, articulate bass.
Onkyo A-9555 and Benz Ace L: step-up? preamp?
since the onkyo has a pretty capable pre already, a phono pre would be logical.
Where's the bass?
there are balanced speakers out there 'big and small', but many are designed to emphasis mid-range, which is the flavor many audiophiles crave. as for the balanced 'fullrange', hales, chapman, duntech, dunlavy, ohm and others will do bass for sure...
