Does Wilson Sophia Sound good at low volumes?
the amplifier type at low volume can make a big difference. just to confirm, try the 802 with a relativley powerful arc or other tube amp. the levinson is spectactular but will not shine at low volume.

are they being used in the recommended 'nearfield' position?

vintage 1039. 1229, 505-, 5000(there are a few more legends as well)...the new the new line is very solid too....no nostalgic price, but the new 505 is as good as anything in its price range. 
Gini LS3/5a's - who has heard them?
if you type in 'gini' you can find an interesting thread with more LS 3/5 info. what constitutes a real LS 3/5a has become a bit 'relative', so a demo (on any brand) would be a good idea. the gini with sub-unit would appear to be one heck of a buy...
