arguments against starting a vinyl collection?
owning a turntable and a cd player offers one more choices for recorded music. beyond that, it all just opinions and preference and mo money to through at the hobby. 
LFD Integrated Zero MK III
a good solid brit integrated, like the ones you are more familiar with....creek, naim, cyrus, arcam, etc... since it was unavailable in the US for awhile, there are those who think it is better. 
Refurbish or Buy New Turntable
the oracle is still one of the greats. a high output cartridge and you're in business. 
Speakers in the 1000 dollar range....
call the may audio company (mayaudio.com) and get a pair of castle harlechs. you could do far worse, even if you dropped 5 times as much. A classic british floorstander which does it all, and an heirloom quality cabinet to boot. 
Are horns and hi-eff designs becoming more popular
there are perhaps individual companies(newer or start ups)experiencing more sales, but this hobby as a rule, is not capturing the imaginations of a larger consumer base. doesn't mean it won't be around...just means that overall 'flat' is the new '...

never buy a woman audio equipment. its like buying your wife a refrigerator or a skillet. the beginning of the end. only buy women what 'they' want....once this law is broken, she will forever buy 'you' what 'she' wants.

Opinions on a Revolver
the revolver was a very solid, and good sounding, table and arm...competitive with the rega tables of that time. revolver is now back in the audio business as well.

Used Record Stores & Audio Gear in NYC
j&r music world is a trip...you can walk there. as far as used records, go the village(not what it used to be)...kims music and video is great, and has lots of import cd's and dvd's.....i'm afraid hi end shops are not what they used to be either.
