What's your latest "Discovery"
Thanks, Albert. I'll check out one of the other Tibbets releases you recommend. I realized I haven't contributed any 'discoveries' to my own thread in quite some time. Looking back over my library, a couple of recent favorites have been: Damien Ju...
What's your latest "Discovery"
Hey Albert - I have Steve Tibbets CD, "A Man about a Horse" which I keep going back to trying to "get it", as it were. I have enjoyed it more as I listen to it, but really had a hard time with it early on. Is it similar to the ones you've recommen...
What's your latest "Discovery"
Marco, I am familiar with Vienna Teng. I like her as well. You have good taste in music!I'll give you a few more in the same vein that I'm pretty sure you'd like if you share those tastes: Over the Rhine, "Ohio"The Innocence Mission, "Umbrella"Ros...
What's your latest "Discovery"
Tbooe - I do enjoy HEM as well. If you like her stuff, and you have not heard Vienna Teng, check her out too. I have no idea how Citibank feels about the latter. Marco
Leonard Cohen fans
If you're talking about the film, Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man, not only is it a great documentary/concert film, but also has a great soundtrack CD. Great performances by Rufus and Martha Wainright, Antony, and Teddy Thompson, among others.Marco
hum, please, please help
As an addendum to the excellent advice Mark gave you; an alternative would be to have an electrician install a dedicated circuit(s) with an isolated/dedicated ground. This would certainly be a minor expense compared to the cost of your system. I d...
Earthquake Protection
I'd assume the guy posting does indeed value his life more than the gear, and is simply asking for a better way to secure it. I live in harm's way in Seattle. Retrofitting homes for earthquake protection is no longer just an option, it's mandatory...
SET amp with solid state preamp
I've tried a custom-built FET amp (Solid State) with my 300B SET's and the combination worked very well. Unfortunately both are pretty custom units and are not available to recommend, but just wanted to indicate that synergy is certainly possible ...
shock/fire hazard with DAC?
I'm pretty sure Jiun-Hsien Wu of MHDT does speak English. You may want to write him with your concerns and see what he has to say. The MHDT DACs are built around non-conductive plexiglass cases. Depending on which one you get there may be relative...
shock/fire hazard with DAC?
In general the shock/fire hazard from a DAC is no greater than your VCR. I would, however, keep stray current juice, or stray juice of any flavor away from DACs, VCRs or any other electronic component for that matter. UL Lab Approved gear will not...
pairing a Dynaco st70 with a preamp
A good friend of mine had his paired with an Audible Illusions pre, many years ago. That combination sounded wonderful through vintage Quad speakers. Marco
Why does this old tube gear sound so good?
I'm sure the Mac gear you mention sounds very nice. In contrast to your SS Classe system it is certain to provide a markedly different sound. I wonder if that difference might be more a matter of tubes vs ss, as opposed to 'old' tube gear sounding...
Artists 'SELLING OUT' - can we discuss?
My only objection is that, in all too many cases, my experience of artist's "selling out" (this includes actors as well) is that they inevitably seem to be very much influenced by those outside sources that they've come to depend upon for their in...
Cars R OK, but what kind of motorcycle do you have
Wanted to mention that there are back protectors available. They are a little uncomfortable at first, but when you get used to it you won't even notice that you have it on. Also protects the bottom of the neck a little.I always wear some kind of b...
Von Schweikert Vr 4sr Tubes a good match?
Yo Moe - I was going to recommend you check with Tvad who I know ran those speakers with tubes. I checked, and found out A'gon clipped his wings for the time being. Hope he'll be back soon. I shot him an email and his brief response to the thread ...
