On The Feeding And Care Of Vienna Mahlers I don't know the Rowland line that well...is that the Class D stuff you're working with, Guido? I've been really loving my Bel Canto Ref 1000's! I keep thinking I'm going to find flaw with them, but my feet just keep tappin'. Another room I had to...
On The Feeding And Care Of Vienna Mahlers I can tell you that they use a Rob Wasserman CD, "Duos", and use the Jennifer Warnes cut of "Runaway Horse". The same cut on her album "Famous Blue Raincoat" won't do because it doesn't have the same bass content and the vocal isn't as well record...
On The Feeding And Care Of Vienna Mahlers Hey Guido - I do hope I can join y'all next year. I don't know, one of those shows every six years or so is about my fill, though I had a great time experiencing this year's show. The Mahlers are too big for my moderately sized listening space, th...
On The Feeding And Care Of Vienna Mahlers Hey Guido - Sorry I didn't get to meet you at RMAF. Albert mentioned you were there, and that he enjoyed meeting you. Congratulations on the Mahlers! That was definitely one of the most memorable rooms for me as well. I enjoyed both the Mahlers, a...
iTunes Ripping - Strange Digital Artifacts marco, were you able to make it to the genius bar?I had a not entirely satisfying visit just this evening. Though they did find a solution, they could not really explain it. It may help you and others so I'll post what was suggested as a solution....
Best Recordable CD-R Media ??? OK, I give up. What is a "cake box"?It's simply the bulk packaging, Don. It means that you'll get the specified quantity of CD's stacked in one single package (usually in the shape of a tube - smaller quantities looking like a cake - some Taiyo bo...
iTunes Ripping - Strange Digital Artifacts Nycjdc - what you describe does not in any way resemble what I'm getting, but certainly could follow a similar path of investigation. Do you have "error correction" switched on? Which format are you ripping with (WAV, Lossless, AIFF)? BTW, for me,...
Best Recordable CD-R Media ??? In the photo industry, which is big on stable, reliable, large-capacity storage, Taiyo Yuden are considered among the best out there. Their lamination process is visibly superior to most. They make great DVD media as well. I don't know how they co...
iTunes Ripping - Strange Digital Artifacts Great link, Jeffrey. Thanks! Since it shows up on the rip through any source I play the files through, I don't think the output settings have anything to do with it though. Even the file transferred to my iPod has the exact same artifact. So it is...
iTunes Ripping - Strange Digital Artifacts Thanks, Jeffrey. I didn't think of that, though I'm not sure I'm following how it might have an effect. That may be mostly because I've never understood exactly what it was for. Those settings have gone unchanged from whatever the default is. The ...
iTunes Ripping - Strange Digital Artifacts Good thought, 4est. I don't think I was, but I'm pretty sure the USB connection was there and idle. Also, it would not be unlike me to do something else while it rips, but in this case, I've tried the same CD several times without doing anything e...
iTunes Ripping - Strange Digital Artifacts OK, I think I've isolated it to my laptop. I took the same Mary Gauthier CD and ripped it on my G5 tower. No artifacts. That was as a WAV file. So what's going on with my laptop (g4 1.42ghz iBook)? The settings are identical. Plenty of RAM. iTunes...
iTunes Ripping - Strange Digital Artifacts No, I've never tried AIFF...only WAV and Lossless. I'll give that a try to see if the results are any different.Marco
iTunes Ripping - Strange Digital Artifacts I use an Apple. Either a G5 tower (2.7ghz duo) or an ibook laptop. I mostly rip files on my laptop. I actually haven't given the tower a try on the CD's in question as I mostly use that for work. I'll give that a try just for curiosity. Marco
Am I Bad Listener? No pain, no gain. You must suffer to enjoy this hobby. May I suggest self-flaggelation? OK, that's kind of severe to start out...just go to the bank, get a nice tall stack of $100 bills, 20-30 to start. Stop at your local convenience store on the ... |
