Sound proofing any suggestions
We've been doing a major renovation on our house for the past year and have had to educate ourselves on similar issues. FWIW here is the consensus I've learned from various sources, as well as our own experience:Insulation: The best for sound is t...

(snip)hey cost more money, and PCs can read digital music exactly the sameI suppose if you want to deal with an inferior operating system, vastly increased vulnerabiltiy to viruses (if you use the same computer to surf the Net), general instabilit...
Which SACD of Jazz at the Pawnshop sounds better?
Colonoscopy? Cold Water Enema? Where can I find these SACD's?Since you ASSked: Both are readily available where the sun never shines. Hard core jazz addicts got nothing on suffering over these two selections! Dat shit'd make John Zorn on a Bose Wa...

I recognize that that taste in Audio chat sites is highly subjective, but those folks at AA are pretty lame. In place of consulting them I'd suggest a cold water enema.Marco

Onhwy61 - Are you saying there is no great Scandanavian Jazz? Have you listened to the CD's by Tord Gustavsen (Norway)? Changing Places sounds pretty good to my uncultivated ears. The ECM release, Achirana, also features a Nordic bassist Arild And...

What age did the "audio bug" hit you?
When my mom was pregnant they thought it was twins by her size. That is until I popped out of the womb wearing headphones. They were none too surprised then when the cord led to a killer tube amp and vinyl rig! Marco

Musical tastes aside, I'd have to agree with CW London; I had the LP version of JAP and used it as a reference for sound-staging and atmosphere. I liked the cut, Limehouse Blues, for those purposes. For me the music is pretty ho-hum too, but if my...
What haven't you listened to in a long time, but..
I've been importing my entire CD collection (probably around 400-500 CD's) to a hard drive so I've been listening to a whole lot of music I haven't heard in a while (I let the music play while I'm importing so usually only get to hear a few cuts)....
