Equal $$ for Phono OR Streaming? I’ve been an audiophile since about 1972, with a Dual 1215S/Shure M91E/Sansui 2000x/Advents and went up the chain to Audio Research, C-J, Dahlquists, etc. Vinyl all the way, until the last 15 months or so. Aurender N100H+ Schiit Yggdrasil GS for a...
Audiogon Is Still Relevent...Don't Listen to the Naysayers. I was a nut for audio in the 70’s and early 80’s, with intermittent toes back in ever since. I was an early Audiogon member, then had kids and had a demanding career, and am now back enjoying lots of music. Even though I am an old hand, I’ve learn...
will changing to solid-state make the bass in my wilson sophias better at low volume? Why not install Amarra Luxe, as it works on top of iTunes? It sounds TONS better than iTunes, and also has a number of choices for digital tone control, including various curves optimized for various kinds of music. It also has digital volume cont...
DVD player playing CD's I am surprised how good the sound is out of my Marantz U7007 blu ray player through my Yggdrasil via digital coax.
Does it annoy you when companies don't show the internals of electronics ? Actually very simple. If it is well laid out, it is repairable. A rats nest, maybe. Stuffed circuit boards aren’t bad unless are direct mounted, then need to replace whole board if can. Point to point is not easier than have glass epoxy boards
Looking for a CD player If your CD player has a digital coax out, I would buy a Schiit Yggdrasil GS at $1599. I play CD’s with a Marantz U7007 Blu Ray player with my Yggdrasil and its sounds really great.
Schiit CD Transport on the way soon. I can’t speak highly enough of Schiit. My Yggdrasil GS, Saga, and Loki are all tremendous values. No Fufu factor, just performance. When I look at so much of the high end these days, the value part of the equation just seems lost, as the companies...
Perfect Speaker Placement - Put next to the back wall as much as possible. Ok, I feel like this is an extension of another post I just made in another discussion about imaging. I used to sell audio, I have some experience setting up different kinds of speakers. They vary dramatically in their optimal placement from walls...
A deeper more holographic soundstage. I read a lot of things written here as if they are gospel. I will give you my own experience. I have a holographic sense of space that reaches beyond my speakers and with excellent and focused imaging. I have substantial equipment between my speak...
Does Anyone Think CD is Better Than Vinyl/Analog? Just barely touched on here, but most newer (since the early 80’s) lp’s were mixed from digital recordings. I have done a lot of comparisons over the years. Digital recordings on lp’s have the “vinyl” sound just like those analogue sourced. Thus, ...
What is the name of the tool? Ampzilla with decade meters-4 orders of magnitude. VERY useful for training oneself, lower decade readings quite sensitive. I am a scientist, these things fascinate me.
Frail and Bedazzled Santa brought me Sennheiser HD800S’s. Paired with Woo WA6 amp and fed by Tidal/Aurender N100H/Schiit Yggdrasil GS, my vinyl does not come close. Sorry...used to think vinyl was better until I got a great DAC. This is the key for me. Too much disto...
Are the 6 speakers from a 2001 Bose Lifestyle 20 Music System worth anything? Kenjit, as an owner of 2 sets of ATC speakers, this comment really did show what you know and what you don’t
For the Audiophile with a taste for good design(looks)....a question. I sold Tandberg receivers in college and I would agree that they are really beautiful. Rosewood cabinet and blue lit dials. My 17 year old self was enthralled by the look of the GAS Ampzilla in Popular Electronics. I saw the real deal a few months ...
Your shipping wrecks. USPS,FED-EX and UPS I want to state my support for the USPS. Chronically underfunded, yet essential for so many communities. FedEx really seems lost, they used to be the gold Standard. I am impressed with UPS, they have really stepped up. Overall, most folks I have d... |
