CARY SLP-05 Power Cord I second the Kubala. I just recently recabled my entire system using the Kubala Emotion right down to the PCs and all I can say is my system sounds the best it ever has. Go with the Kubala.
Review: Cary CAD-211 Anniversary Edition amps Nice review. Now sell the SF preamp and buy an SLP-05 and run it balanced into the 211s and you will know the sonic bliss that I get each and every day. When you were using the Monster to turn on the amps were you leaving both switches in the on p...
S-Video Cable wont work My laptop requires that I hit a function key plus F5 to get video out of the video out port. What does the manual say about outputing video from the S video connector? I have a hard time believing that the cable is bad.
Review: Cary Audio Design SLP-05 Tube preamp Nice review. I have been enjoying my SLP-05 for five months now. Best pre I have ever heard. Just curious, where was this switch you mention for the headphones? I assume you do not mean the one on the front panel?
Living Voice Mystic Mat Experiences I used it on a VPI Aries with great results. I thought it made the overall presentation more quiet with great dynamics. I know that Harry at VPI is not a fan but I can tell you it worked for me.
What phono stage candidates should I consider? Take a look at the ASR Basis Exclusive. It utilizes a battery supply as it's power source and is extremely quiet. I am blown away by how good this thing really is. Plenty of gain options from 32dB to 64dB and lots of loading options as well. I can...
Cary SLP98L Tube Rolling The Sylvania are very popular so are the Raytheon particularly in the rear sockets. I am currently using National Union Grey Glass and have found them to be the best 6SN7s to my ears in my system. I'd try the Sylvania first since most people seem ...
VPI Sup. S.M. vs. Avid Volvere vs. Clearaudio Amb. I just sold a VPI Aries and bought an Avid Volvere with an SME IV arm. The difference was huge. The VPI is slow and flat footed compared to the Volvere. The Avid table with SME arm just is faster more resolving than my old VPI. I could not believe...
Tube Pre The Cary 98L would be my first choice.
Opinions on the Cary 211 tube amp I currently own a pair of the CAD-211M Anniversary Edition monoblocks. I think they are the best amps Cary has ever built. I have previously owned the CAD-572 Mk.II, the CAD-805C, and currently own the Rocket 88 and the CAD-300B-SE. The Rocket 88 ...
AES/Cary DJH Preamp tube change I am currently using a pair of CBS Hytrons which sound nice. I hav eused Sylvanias and Tung Sols with great success. I have also found that I can achieve some nice improvements by changing the 6CA4. I am currently using a Mullard Branded as an Amp...
How well does the VPI 16.5 work?? Very easy to use. If you are seriously into vinyl it's a must have. The only reason I would sell mine is to get the model 17. Should be able to find one new for about $425.
AES3 any thoughts The AES3 is very hard to beat. I disagree with the guy who said it is not up to your equipment. I think that it is a wonderful preamp. I used it with a pair of Cary CAD-805C monoblocks that have 50W output power and never felt that I didn't have e...
Theta Jade or Basic II I owned both and always thought that the Data Basic II was the better of the two units. I thought the bass was better with the II than the Jade. I always regreted selling the II for the Jade. The Basic II was just more musical. Good luck.
VPI Aries owners I use a Symposium Svelte Shelf directly under the table and additionally I use a mouse pad (this tweak was given to me by Harry Weisfeld himslf) under the motor. It works okay. It could be better. I just couldn't afford more at the time. |
