Western Electric 300B question Probably not but I can tell you from experience that they will likely develop problems over time. I had a set and they started to emit a popping sound after a short time. The tube was repleaced by the seller and the new one started popping too. Si...
newbs about tubes Tubes have a finite life. If you leave them on all the time you risk shortening the life of the tubes while not listening to music. On cheap tubes like the ones in your preamp, maybe. On expensive tubes like the ones in an amp, maybe not.

Proac+Cary and Accuphase or Esoteric CD I'd buy a Cary CDP. The equipment is obviously voiced together and the synergy will be amazing. BTW, I have the same amps and pre and I use the new Cary 306 SACD player with it but I can tell you that the older 306/200 would also sound great.
What Cartridges to use with Triplanar IIV Tonearm? My Tri-Planar VII works great on a Kuzma Reference table with an Air Tight PC-1. I also used an ZYX UNIverse with the same combo and loved it.
Ground Loop Hum Does your cable TV connection come in contact in any way with your audio system? Most hum issues you describe come from the difference in grounds between the CATV system and the house ground your audio system is using. Try disconnecting your cable...
New update for VPI tables So the lubricant is probably cheap but how many platter upgrades is he going to come out with? How many new feet? If you own a VPI you can pretty much count on spending money for new upgrades every year because they "really improve" the sound of h...
Triplanar VII tonearm & Koetsu Jade Platinum cart. I have the same table and arm as you but I have an Air Tight PC-1 cartridge. Great table and arm. I second the response from Thomasheisig. Check out the Doug Deacon thread. I used it extensively in setting up my Tri-planar. Remove the damping trou...
Your Favorate JBL's from the 70's I loved my L100s. Sometimes I wish I still had them around just to relive some great moments.
Anybody tube rolled 845's? I have the same exact amps as you do. Wonderful sounding amps. I installed a set of new production Cetron 845s and a set of new production Western Electric 300B and never looked back. When I first got the amps I bought the SuperTNT 845s but had so...
Exotic turntables. Eye candy Very cool pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Is the Ginko Cloud 11 the best isolation for a VPI I used a Cloud 10 with a VPI Aries to great satisfaction. I think that the VPI and the Ginko are a perfect match. The Cloud 10 was conceived as a product for the VPI.
Tube rolling for the Cary SLP 2002 When that preamp first came out it was equipped with the 6H30 as standard. I can't remember now but I think that the 6H30s gave it more gain.
High end turntables Why? 2 tonearms I wish I had the capability to add a second arm to my table. I'd like to have one arm with a stereo cartridge mounted and a second arm with a mono cartridge mounted. This to me would be the best of all worlds.
Coupling caps in Cary SLP98, 0.22uF or 2.0uF ? The Audio One caps are the stock caps in that pre. When Cary upgrades the caps in that pre they use the Jenson so you already have the upgraded caps for that preamp. They only upgrade the .22uF by the way. As for personal taste I have found that t... |
