8 Ohm Speakers
Watts = Current square X Resistance W= I square * RFor a solid state amp with a good power supply you will double the Watts if you half the resistance since the current in the circuit will double. This will only work with an adequate power supply....
best processor for around 5000 to6000
I have been using the California Audio Labs SSP 2500. I have been happy with it. It includes a Pronto remote, it has an analog bypass, but no balanced connections. I find the sound top notch. It is completely programable. It can double as a high q...
Is 500 hours of break in really nec.?
Following is aquote from, http://www.high-endaudio.com/index_ac.html. This person Arthur Salvatore wrote the following about Coincident IC. He knows more about them that I Know. I am looking to purchase a pair to experience myself how they are."Th...
Jumping into SE tube amps. Suggestions?
Leafs where can I find out more about the new Coincident speakers, UHS series? The coincident site does not show anything. Sometimes the last place you find the news is in the manufacturers site.I am also looking for Tube friendly speakers.
TT: Aries or Delphi V
If you do not have a very good base, go with the Oracle Graham. If looks are important to you go with the Oracle. Some people say the Aries, JMW 12 arm combo is a better buy. Maybe they are right. I liked the Oracle. The most important pieces are ...
TT: Aries or Delphi V
They are both great turntables. It is like driking a Latour or a Lafitte Rothschild. Would you neessarily say one is better than the other? I would not, it depends on the food pairing and the care those bottles have had. The turntable is somewhat ...
vinyl
Vinyl can be a pain. The records need to be clean. You need to clean the cartridge. Software is not readily available. Your cartridge needs to be aligned correctly, and you need a phono pre.If your system is right. Tubes preferably, or very good s...
TT: Aries or Delphi V
If you are using the JMW arm use the Aries. Keep in mind that the Aries does not have a suspension. It is very important for any turntable, but especially the Aries, that you istall it in a good solid/isolated base.I own the Oracle with a Graham 2...
Coincident or LAT or Madrigal
If you buy the Coincident it needs about 300hrs to sound good and about 400 to 500 to sound its best. Patience is a virtue, (I sometimes lack).
Rate the Audiophile Publications
I like Bound For Sound, http://boundforsound.com/. This paper publication does not accept advertisement. I find them to be honest, not prone to the flavor of the month, and great "breakthroughs" every week. Even if I do not agree with them on a pa...
Modifying dvd players that down convert
MSB technology ,http://www.msbtech.com/, will probably do the trick. It used to be about $350, I do not know now, but through the website or an e-mail you should find out. There might be others. Hope this helps
Table only as good as it s cartridge?
This strictly my opinion. In theory no. The whole package and the stand is very important. In practice, yes everything makes a difference, but after you get to a decent table like a Rega 3, or better yet a 25, the cartridge becomes very important....
Arm to use with Lyra Helikon
The cartridge needs about 50 hrs of break in time. Do not rush it. I use it with a Graham 2.0 deluxe. Check you set up, a high VTA will make it sound shrilly. I use 47Kohms loading, no problem. I like the way it sounds. It is not romantic. I have ...
Acoustic Zen vs. Coincident CST
I am very interested in this same comparison. I have been told coincident cables need a long time to break-in 300 to 500 hrs. Both cables are supposed to be good.
Bose home theatre
I do not know if you have already purchased the system. In my opinion you would be better off with a HSU Reserach VTF-2 self powered subwoofer($500 list), and a set of Gallo micros ($300/pair, 4-inch spheres). This would be a superior system with ...
