Making speakers sound tonally similar with an equalizer
Isn't a flat response curve what a speaker designer is striving for for most accurate reproduction?

I use my loki to reduce some of the digital glare and to also add midbass to my proac d30r.  Without it, string instruments sound a bit anemic. Much cheaper than to replace the speakers imo.

OK. Figured there would be some unique sound signatures that cannot be duplicated easily and I presume is mostly sound emanating from the enclosure, construction, etc.
A Newcomer to Digital Looking to Upgrade My Dac, Tubes? Ideas?
I find digital harshness to be the biggest problem with digital and I'm using a schiit Loki equalizer to reduce some of the brightness and add some lower end to make it more analog. It can be an inexpensive mod to try first. Just my 2 cents.

I believe is pre 2010. Ps audio nuwave dsd, audiolab 6000cdt and jps superconductor fx ic. Speakers little bright. Proac d30r. Room is big. It's more useful when listening at higher volumes and when the brightness can be bit edgy. Useful with tube...
Looking for my "last" CD transport
I really like the audiolab 6000cdt. Not harsh at all. Don't believe that bit is bit. Quality transports do sound better and the improvements/differences is not subtle.
Playing with two sets of speakers simultaneoulsy
Yes, I do like the sound with the Maggie's especially with orchestral music. Don't know how to measure frequency response though. The far distance to the listening position allow the two speakers to act like one and not affect imaging while provid...

About 12 ft. Speakers about 10 ft apart from center to center roughly. Why do you ask?
best preamp under 500 for cheap, poor student
Hasn't the op waited long enough?! ;)

Did you check to see if the screws holding the board to the back was tightened?
Issue with ProAc D40 speaker - any suggestions to resolve the issue
When I bought my d30r, one of the tweeters was not working and it was due to loose screws that held the crossover board to the back of the cabinet just on the other side of the binding posts.  The screws can be tightened by removing the woofer dri...
Proac Speakers
I too have the D30R and I'm very impressed with them although I haven't had many other speakers to compared to. The tonal balance is superb and the lows are also very potent for it's size. I suspect the K series will be even more impressive. Even ...
Connecting a DAC directly to an amp?
I use a nobsound volume controller and it is more transparent than my Cary tube preamp. I would use the Cary if I wanted more tube sound although I find the ss amp to sound more natural. I'm quite surprised at how much better cd's have been with a...
Wish I had put more emphasis on cables earlier
Yeah. Hate going down slippery slope since this hobby can get really expensive. Haven't really shopped for power cords but are there some reasonably priced ones worth recommending?
