amp preference...Plinius or Pass labs I just three days ago received my Plinius SA102 amps (two in vertical bi-wire) I intend to write a review here once they are broken in, but straight out of the box the two major problems with Plinius are gone. The ground loop hum is no where to be...
Power Cond-best? Hyrda? CFX? PP? Burm 948? others? I agree with CFB on the dedicated curcuit first. I have tried the PP, Gray along with a list of others. The Hydra does great things for me, but my system is a quarter the cost of CFB's so it comes with "issues" I guess. Judging from youy system I ...

More Questions for the Experts I have had the same concerns. DO NOT USE YOU AMPS WITH THE MONSTER! you will lose the benefit of what you just finished installing plus some. There are some ways to get high quality surge protection but they are costly. There have been a few discu...
Looking for warmth, openess, detail Yes it's very possible to receive everything your looking for in one cable. I have found it in NBS Statement and in Nordost Valhalla. Both are expensive beyond belief, although NBS used is much more affordable. The common thread here is copper and...
Opinions needed; which is a better choice and why? An integrated amp will provide most of the benefits of the pre/amp combo. The power supply is maybe the biggest issue. Cardas GoldenCross vs. NBS Statement or Monitor 0? I have experimented extensively over the past year with the Cardas Golden Cross, the Neutral Reference, FIM Gold, NBS Statement and Valhalla along with another 20 or so cables. My opinion is you Cardas are the warmer of the group but also the least...
7500 for USED cables? Are they joking? Paul and Sean, I think your both right. A lot of the recordings today by the "factory" studios may indeed care less of the quality than the budget/ profit. The sound of these recordings is placed in history and will never be better than the least ...

Average age of audiophiles Sorry the above post is mine Jadem6, not my son Tigger. Oh by the way I have kids who are young budding audiophiles and surpass me in Audio snobbery.J.D.
Room acoustics needs help. I was so excited to have found an acoustics thread before you Tom. I must say Tom here has helped me out even more than the book, so if you need further advise after reading the basics, Tom is a Saint!J.D.
Room acoustics needs help. That sould read $30.00, guess my shift key didn't shift too well. I have both of these books, both are great.
Room acoustics needs help. I would suggest the book "Sound Studio Construction On A Budget" written by F. Alton Everest. It's the best 430.00 I've spent on my system. |
