Cartridge upgrade for VPI Scoutmaster
PS to my last post-my Dyna XX2MKII cart I am using now, I bought used here on the 'Gon, seller claimed 10 hours on it, which has to be true, since it took time to break in. It has been a superb performer, and at just under $1000, as opposed to $18...
Cartridge upgrade for VPI Scoutmaster
Back in the mid-late 70's, I used a Shure V-15 MKIV, with a little integrated Kenwood amp driving Tannoy 12" Monitor Golds. When I think back on it, that was a very good sounding little system. I never had a table and phono pre that measures up to...
Cartridge upgrade for VPI Scoutmaster
Hi Srwooten, I have been using a Dynavector XX2MKII, first with JMW9 arm. I have since upgraded my arm to the JMW9 Signiture, and I am now getting much better performance than with the stock JMW. I would go to the Signiture, then try a better cart...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
My current speakers are Dynaudio Countour 5.4's. They continue to satisfy and amaze me as my system evolves around them. Good low-end response down to high 20's, great midrange, and same esotar2 tweeter as in many of their most expensive designs. ...
Am I getting it all?
I will, Dave, and I intend to post photos of before and after (too bad we can't do that with sound). I'm having some special tile work done for the stove hearth pad, with two different colors of granite, with some marble inlay. Should be nice, but...
Am I getting it all?
This is a bit of an update on this thread. Since my last post, I have changed phono pres to the Dynavector P-75 MKII, which makes a superb match with the Dyna XX2MKII cart I am using. A week ago today, I recieved a new JMW9 Signature arm from VPI....
To damp or not to damp JMW-9 Sig ?
I just installed my Signature9 on my Scout late last week. Great deal of improvement over the JMW9. The instructions that came with the arm said to use little or no fluid. I'm a bit of a rebel, and like to experiment, so I filled the well about 2/...
Hey Thats the one I was getting
Soundsmith should be able to do it much cheaper than 7-$800. They do an excellent job, as well. Best of luck, Dan
Dynavector P-75 mods?
The battery idea sounds like a good one, you'll have to re-post after you try it. The RCA upgrade sounds good, too. I'll have to try that. Thanks much, enjoy, Dan
Dynavector P-75 mods?
The Maxx I's may be taller in the top cabinet, at least I thought so, that's why I thought they were Alex's. I've seen and heard the Maxx2's at Definitive Audio in Seattle. Very impressive. The Dyna weighs next to nothing. I thought a little isola...
Dynavector P-75 mods?
Got so excited looking at your system I forgot to mention that under the little Dyna are three Vibrapods. A little weight on top is good too, eh? The VPI SDS is on my wish list, maybe next income tax return (this one already earmarked for room cha...
Dynavector P-75 mods?
Hey thanks, Cytocycle. I just had a look at your system. WOW! Did I see right, are those Wilson Alexandria's in the photos, or am I seeing things? And you are going to Maxx2's, right? What a hell of a nice system. All I can say is mine sounds pret...
Enjoying vinyl more than ever.........
Adam18, your story is similar in that I am (within the last year or so) back into vinyl, and enjoying it more than ever. My front end is better, but more important, I've learned how to do proper set-up, and that has lead to much greater enjoyment....
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam?
After having purchased and used the "Perfection" steam cleaner, (I also use the downward pointng nozzle), I am firmly on the steam powered wagon! I now no longer feel compelled to buy an RCM, the grooves are coming out cleaner than any other clean...
Am I getting it all?
I guess I should re-phrase that previous statement, Piedpiper. I mean I must be close to getting all that my analog front end, such as it is, can give me. That is, however, a very long way from the best the format is capable of delivering, but so ...
