Best $40 I've spent...maybe ever
You are very right. As we speak, I've got my two channel and my home theater system completely torn down, cables strewn all over the place. I'll clean every connection as the cables are placed back in service. Hell of a project, but it needed to b...
Fried crossover or bad tweeter?

Fried crossover or bad tweeter?
I'm no technician, but, if you have the time, you could swap tweeters (or crossovers), if it's not too much work. That should tell you what to replace.Best of luck,Dan
The most fun you can have in audio is DIYing your own speakers
Eric, as the old saying goes, "you're preaching to the choir". Eight years on, and I wouldn't trade my custom Tannoy HPD's 315's for anything. They just float my boat in the right way. DIY made the experience even better. Not the prettiest to look...
Narrowed to 3: 802D3, Sopra 3, Reference 3
I suggest, since you like the KEF's, to try listening to Tannoys. Like the KEFs, they are Dual-Concentric, will image very well, and have great bass. Check and see what they have to offer in their current lineup.Regards,Dan
Monitor Audio Pl 300ii vs. KEF Reference 5
fast, my only remaining question is how far away from the wall are your speakers? The front/center of mine are 75", and toed-in so they intersect at my listening position. This has served me well for 7-8 years, though some folks don't have the sam...
Monitor Audio Pl 300ii vs. KEF Reference 5
fast, you don't mention the orientation of your speakers in the room. Are they situated in front of the short wall, or the other way? My listening room is somewhat similar, 16' X 34' with cathedral ceilings. There are no room treatments used, nor ...
One system, two amps...one for tv and the other for music
I do something similar, although I use two separate but identical speaker cables. All I need do is disconnect a particular cable at the speaker input binding posts, and connect the one I wish to use. This is done to allow the use of an SET 300B, or...
Lenco Turntable L75 question
Ralph, please don't forget about the Garrard 401!
When your hearing is not very good......
As someone that, in my youth, frequented live rock venues as often as possible at the time, worked as an aircraft assembler (shooting and bucking rivets and Huck bolts, very loud when the stem breaks off), and for the last 35-40 years was a heavy ...
Valve phono stage
If you can find one, the Modwright SWP 9.0 SE phono stage is what I've been using for many years now. My purchase price (used) was $1650. I'll never need or want better.Dan
Design flaw in Esoteric DV-60?
Whart, that is correct, nothing else is affected, that is why I question the design of the DV 60's power supply. Something is not quite right. You would think other units in the same circuit would be effected, but not so.I would sure like to find ...
Design flaw in Esoteric DV-60?
Sisyphus51,I hadn't realized there were more posts to read, thanks for responding. I had thought whole-house surge protection would cost in the thousands of dollars, not in the low hundreds. This is something I can afford to do, actually, in a sen...
Design flaw in Esoteric DV-60?
Our storms develop very quickly, and there are gusts that can occur at any given moment. It's a bit difficult to determine when powering down should be done. Thanks Al, for your input. I'll check to see what mode the PPP is in, and try a cheater pl...
Kirmuss audios ultrasonic record cleaner
I built my own for about $200. It works great. Check out BBtx's build info at DIY Audio. I cleaned every LP I own with it, it is still working as always. You can spend more, if that's what works for you, but it was an enjoyable project that yielde...
