Floored by Beatles "White Album" Reissue Mapman, Dave,Especially the Esher demos really showed just how good the Beatles really were, so I couldn't agree more.
RIP Art Dudley Art was a great influence on me. He turned me from a tight-assed sand-head to a lover of tubes, and back again to turntables (along with Mikey F). I'm enjoying the sound of my system much more now due to him doing a wash and rinse of my opinions r...
Aragon 2004 At one time years ago, I had an Aragon 3002 amp, which was 300 Wpc into 8 ohms. It was a very good sounding amplifier.
Need help on a CD player I bought an Arcam DV 139, which is a universal player, to replace the Esoteric DV-60 that went TU. At around $700 (used) it puts the DV-60 to shame in its ability to playback any kind of disc I throw at it. Very musical and listenable.Regards,Dan
A song of hope that I wrote. Thanks so much for sharing. You are indeed a talented man.Best regards,Dan
Does a modern pre-amp sound better than an old one? I used a Primare SP 30 for years, and thought it would be tough to beat. It finally died, and I bought an Arcam AV 9 preamp-processor (used, for $700), and it sounds better than the SP 30. My Esoteric DV-60 uni-player went TU, and I bought a nice,...
The peculiarities of a high value, low cost, amp I bought, and built, Class D Audio amps, mainly to use for HT. The amp for the main speakers is an a CDA 254 with an upgraded power supply, and two CDA 254 modules, for 500 Wpc into 8 ohms, The sound is ridiculously good, especially at the price.I...
Rega P10 v Complete rebuild Garrard 401! Man, I wished I'd had your resources when it came to doing my Garrard 401. I bought a working turntable on Ebay UK, and had it shipped to Washington State, where I live. I rebuilt the table, built my own plinth, and mounted my choice of tonearm.I ...

Replacing Ferrofluid In Kef Uni-Q Speakers I have owned the KEF Uni-Que 15.2 for around twenty years. I was not aware they had Ferrofluid in the tweeters. I will have to research this. After all this time, one speaker gave up, no parts available, so I bought a new (old, actually) pair.I'm ...

Adding a preamp to HT setup I recently added a Modwright SWL 9.0 Line Stage from Dan Wright that had just been rebuilt with upgraded power supply, new tube board, and MWI caps. Remote volume control is included, it has HT bypass, and there are only two tubes in the unit.This...
Pure Class A SS vs Tube Amp Lord, you can't go wrong following Ralph's advice. I use separate amps for HT, all Class D Audio, built from kits. I have a separate two channel line stage with HT bypass, and a couple of other tube amps (SET 300B, and SET 845 amps) for use with m...
Benchmark DAC-1 I don't know what you might expect for a new $2000-$4000, but I just bought a DAC 1 PRE, and I'm amazed at how good it sounds. I'm old now, but I don't expect to need anything else as far as a DAC is concerned.Best of luck in finding a better DAC....
Where is dougdeacon? I have wondered the same thing. Doug was a great contributor of help and had a great deal of technical savvy to contribute. |
