Used speakers for $3k? Oh the confusion
"My first pair was Altec Lansing 510's. Those things could ROCK" "ProAc Response Ones which I thought were even better at everything EXCEPT DYNAMICS" "built a pair of Proac Response 1SC clones. Again very nice BUT LACK DYNAMICS for some rock." "HE...

Adding receiver or amp?
Yep, you have options. However, to keep it simple for your "integration" plan, I suggest adding either a receiver (looped into your "auxilary" or "Bypass" input), and maybe a center and/or rears and sub - connecting all those other speaker channel...
Adding receiver or amp?
Actually, I've had tube systems in small rooms, with the same challenges (and lack of ventilation, to boot). I personally don't see the difference between you using the very same system for music in that room, vs. HT! (unless you plan on blasting ...
The space between the speakers
There will always be compromises! In an all out setup, where you could ideally maneuver the speakers around in the room for best sound (from many different acoustical aspects), then you will likely improve things. (of course, you might get lucky, ...
Proceed AVP?
Actually, from what I remember, there's a bunch of otherwise highly recommended AV pre's from back in the late 90's and early 2000's, that had that issue. I owned several makes and models of pre/pro's - and that issue never bothered me, personally...
Construction Question
Ralphnoonan, you have to forgive us for out zeal in trying to help you put together a truly quality home theater project! We here at A'gon (and I think I speak for many here), simply are interested in not only ourselves, but people like you who ar...
MBL alternatives
Shadorne, now those are some speakers I could DEFINITELY use in an HT system!!!! Infact, I might just look into em for such. Likely superb dynamics, and focus for sure. Thanks for the link/pic
what exactly is ht bypass
actually, maybe this is a better way to understand it.You set up your AV system like normal - running interconnects out to your amps from the "pre-out's". Now, instead of running the interconnects - like normal - directly to your amp's for the lef...
what exactly is ht bypass
"HT Bypass" = bypassing your home theater! - lolNo, actually, the bypass means bypassing your preamp functions for those channels that are output for HT dubties! What happens is that your volume, tone controls, etc are bypassed in that input when y...
Paradigm Signature V2 vs JL Audio F113
Wasting? I actually thought all this was to kill time anyway - lol. Ya know, entertainment value, and such. Sorry about all the punctuations. I got a C in English - lolActually, sorry if you thought I was name dropping too. I'm just trying to make...
Paradigm Signature V2 vs JL Audio F113
My experience from selling all types of audio equipment (mostly home audio), is that measurements don't necessarily mean better overall perceived sonic performance! One amplifier can have better total harmonic distortion ratings, or higher current...
What's up with Harmon Kardon receiver line?
Sounds like some slippery politicking to me, er something...OK. Here's what we do. We take over Europe, then it becomes our continent. Then we can have the 990 for ourselves! mmmmmmuaaahahahaha...muuuuaahaahahahahahaha!!!
Can anyone help me with some thoughts please?
Yeah, about what Racamuti recommended would be fine
revel ultima sub -15 vs velodyne DD-15
my vote is that you shouldn't sweat the difference. Either will do well. Buy whichever is a better deal, matches the decor, etc. One sub is not going to "blow you away", or be superior, IMO. deal with setup, and get great sound. Good luck
