Vandersteens and room acoustics
I did a system for a guy who had 2c's in a similar sized room (with higher 10ft ceiling), and wanted to upgrade to the "Signatures" Even though the older 2's sounded just fine in that room, the Signatures had a SIZEABLE HOLE in the bass response, ...

it's just process of elimination. You'll be unplugging interconnects, powercords, and speaker cables to see what's the offending cause. Once you find it, you can issolate it. Are your speaker cables touching anything with power? Are they in the wa...

Kr4, thank you for the responseElevick, I totally appreciate where you are coming from, and I too have owned some very excellent AV pre's over the years, sans any EQ and/or processing. I've had the krell 5.1, Macintosh MX130, Mac3, Aragon Soundsta...
speaker recommendations for a 12 x 12 room?
hahahhahahha! Right on Audiokinesis! I must admit, that was one of the best, most informed, responses/come-backs I've ever read on this site! -if highly edjumacated sounding (lol)At least we know you've gathered with some audio info, over the year...
speaker recommendations for a 12 x 12 room?
Hey, he should post this question to guys like Richard Rives Byrd and Robert Harley, and see what they recommend from their thousands of systems worth of setups. I'd be interested in their input, and what speakers and setup they recommendPeace....
speaker recommendations for a 12 x 12 room?
Oh, as for the ported speakers working better than sealed speakers in his setup, I highly doubt that! most ported speakers are going to have a bass bump just above where they fall off like a rock in the response. Yes, sealed gently extends, and go...
speaker recommendations for a 12 x 12 room?
"But then much of audio is counter-intuitive" Er, what specifically do you feel are "hard and fast rules" that are counter-intuitive, as you say? I believe everyone here would like to know, actually. I would"Typical" room gain is a 3 dB per octave...
speaker recommendations for a 12 x 12 room?
Personally, I don't like the idea of bigger woofers in that small room! It's like trying to fit a Mack truck into a small garage! Basically, there's gunna be problems.(mainly too much extra bass engergy to get rid of, without radical room treatmen...
speaker recommendations for a 12 x 12 room?
I recommend trying to stick with sealed boxed, medium sized book-shelf designs if you can, which blend easier in small rooms. Try to mate the speakers to the size of the space. Getting large speakers isn't a good fit, with too much boomy, bloaty b...
Best SSP - Upgrade from Integra DTC 9.8
Apparently Audyssey is saying that other smaller hi-end companies like Krell, Mcintosh, Theta, Anthem, etc, aren't in a financial position to do the integration with the MultEQ! - er, something like that. At least that's what the impression I'm ge...
Best SSP - Upgrade from Integra DTC 9.8
Elvick, I tell ya what though, I've had some expensive pre/pro's that I feel are better than the ones you mentioned. And I still think that what that Audyssey MultEQ offers in something like this Integra is a good "leveling ground" with otherwise ...

Mitch4t, never mind. I see your system now. My bad.Anyway, besides the acoustic nightmare with your speakers relfecting off those bare walls, doesn't that supremely large mirror on the side wall DISTRACTING AS HELL!?!...while watching movies that ...
DON'T GET IT ...screen too large = eye strain???
"The distance is an issue for what they call "screen door affect" where you are so close you can see the pixel structure" (Chadnliz)Actually, in this case, they were siting other issues, pertaining to eye-strain - not over-exposed pixel structure ...
DON'T GET IT ...screen too large = eye strain???
Yeah let me clarify. Basically I don't understand their inferring that a setup where you are sitting to close in approximation to the relative screen size, is the issue....
