Maple platform under turntable, How thick?
Granite...Would look like kind of cemetery. To clarify one thing. The woofers of my speakers are way above the floor level, and I get least vibration near the floor so all of my equipment is right down there.
Considering analog...but nervous
If you consider buying used.. There is a Nottingham Interspace deck/arm with cartridge here on Audiogon. I suggest you get it. It is better than Rega P5 let alone P3 or Pro-Ject Xpression. The man wants $1500 for almost new table, offer him $1400 ...
Considering analog...but nervous
It is worth it, trust the majority here. Those who think that it is too much work or that if you have no LP collection it would be unwise are saying nonsense. If you mostly listen to rock, blues and acoustic music recorded quite some time ago, the...
Replace wall wart to Simaudio LP3
Right, why not extract maximum performance from a basically very good piece? Just might be a little expensive in this case.My speaker cables were more expensive than my speakers, both new and used.
Replace wall wart to Simaudio LP3
I don't understand it either. I have an LP3 and it is just fine for a modest phono stage. There are many better pieces used and even new for about $1k. Could you elaborate on your idea?
Suggestions on cartridge upgrade
I tend to agree with the previous poster and also think that in fact you might want to upgrade your phono stage first and perhaps your turntable later. In any case, there may be no MC cartridge for you under $1k new worth upgrading to. AT and Dyna...

Don't be so sure about cigars and tonearms; they may never be only that. Things are a little more complicated.
Devore Nines or Zu Presence for large room
Don't know about Zoo but DeVore are made in Brooklyn. Let's support the neigbourhood. They sound good too.
JADIS ORCHESTRA
I bought a few very rare records from Australians; I also hope to visit that continent one day. To go walkabout.
Turntable leveling...
Level the table and Be fanatical about it! Coins, paper etc. all might work. Three or four is an interesting subject. In most cases I prefer three though the other day my deck almost fell off; could've done it with four too.

What would Freud say about all and each of us?Who cares? He is dead.
Let's Play UpMarket • DownMarket...The audio game
I too would generally prefer next to the bottom model from more upscale company and in some cases even the least expensive model. For example, I would choose Rowland integrated over any Creek or NAD or most Naims; or any Nottingham turntable over ...
Voltage regulation
Do you hear the difference when the voltage fluctuates? Or you are concerned because you think it might do something bad to your amp etc.? In any case, I doubt that there is such a device for under $1k used that would consistently do it without po...
Mobile Fidelity Surface Noise
I hope that everyone got it that it was a joke. By the way, I almost never buy re-issues, audiophile or not.
Mobile Fidelity Surface Noise
Do you clean them with Mobile Fidelity fluids? If not - you must. That's the ticket.
