why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
Here we go again. There are audiophiles and there are 'yuppi audiophiles' who are not audiophiles.Better cables are almost always quite expensive, just like components.Turntable itself is a very simple thing that is exteremely difficult to make right.

Frogman, you got lucky. I was considering getting the fourth copy. After all that vinyl is not of good quality, I guess.

Orpheus10, no thank you, I very much prefer sevdah. You can't really compare.

Fourwinds, thank you.
Turntables
Whether it be Ortofon, Sumiko or Grado, there will still be a difference, though I don't know how big a difference. You could talk to people at needledoctor.comI once asked them a few questions about cartridges, and they were straightforward enough...

I would say that sevdah is more complex than blues. But I'll admit I prefer Spain's flamenco to both. At his best El Camaron de la Isla was incomparable. !973, 1974, 1975, 1977 albums are considered masterpieces. If I had to choose one, this would ...
Got to open up my system today. Vandy Treo's
Albert, how would you explain this complex dynamics?Does it only happen with speakers?

Because "cassette" is more difficult to pronounce than "ipad". Principle of simplicity, sort of.I also remember my $100 Technics direct drive turntable, that despite all its flaws could get you into the recording. And I didn't even bother to clean...

There is a reason why Nottingham has a cult following, both here and in Europe. Especially Spacedeck because it is not very expensive by audiophile standards.I am not really familiar with exotic turntables. You are probably right about why they ma...

And if they continue like that, those next generations will become degenerations. There is always time for meaningful things. Ipad sounds like crap compared to a good boombox with good analog recording and cassette. I used to have one, and it didn...
Turntables
If I may ask - why do you only consider Pro-ject turntable?Any $100 MM would do, I wouldn't buy $800-$1000 cartridge at this point unless you intend to get phono stage soon.
How important is bass to you?
OK, I'll re-phrase - at least two subs, please.
Admittedly a bit lost
You might need a powered subwoofer to get the bass right.Something like REL.
Turntable set up- How easy is it
I don't have enough experience to insist on anything. However, he is one man, and there are other cartridge manufacturers. For example, Nagaoka states 30 hours, and they don't say it will be fully burnt-in after that.Anyway, if it doesn't or almos...
