Analog Front End Next Upgrade
Yes, I'd say tube phono stage of equal performance level with the advantages of tube sound would cost at least two times more. That's the reason why I still keep my Acoustech phono. I seriously doubt that those Allnic and Blue Circle could match i...
Current speaker threads are boring
I am sure I could try so many fine speakers. This is a general topic thread. And yes, one of the traits of fine speakers is that they are not boring. To be a little poetic - speakers must have 'soul' not just particular sound signature. They are n...
Are future improvements in Amp/PreAmps slowing to a crawl?
I think, he is both right and wrong. He is right that there doesn't appear that much more can be done with either tubes or transistors. Breakthrough will come when something different is invented. Whether it is ever invented or not is another ques...
How "Tribal" are we?
I belong to the tape tribe, that's for sure. Type of amps, speakers, cartridges etc. is not that important to me - if it sounds good I will hear it, at the highest level my preferences might be depended on the particular kind of music played. How ...
Analog Front End Next Upgrade
I would upgrade the phono first not the cartridge, and this new phono should be able to handle Lyra Delos and Dyna XX that you might get later. What to upgrate to? I think, you could consider starting separate thread while listing all your equipme...
My jazz collection told me to get a *real* system
I would try Nagaoka cartridge if it is compatible with your tonearm, get it at lpgear.com, prices are $110-$750, I think.

Pangea cords appear to be the weakest link. But what exactly is not good enough, what would you like to improve?
My jazz collection told me to get a *real* system
This doesn't mean that speakers should cost half the system, it depends. I have about $3k in current dollars speakers and $7k table/arm/cartridge/phono. I like my speakers and brought just about everything out of them, I guess. Next step would be ...
My jazz collection told me to get a *real* system
You might have to change electronics when you change speakers. Besides, speakers are half the system, at least. And you don’t appear to want gradual upgrades, you want to jump, and this is generally my approach too. But you won’t have to upgrade t...
My jazz collection told me to get a *real* system
My advice would be to hold it until you are ready to upgrade your speakers and probably cables too. You want, I think, a competely new system at a totally different level. $8k is pretty good amount for a system including speakers if you buy mostly...
Selling in audiogon vs amazon vs ebay?
Audiogon support is excellent in my limited experience.
Selling in audiogon vs amazon vs ebay?
I never even check with amazon regarding vinyl. I consider them flea market enterprise anyway and buy anything there very rarely. Some people just know nothing but amazon and walmart.
How do i know
Yeah, the Stockholm dealer posted in Gryphon thread.I would say that unless you are going to use MBL speakers as well, there is little need to only consider MBL.
Gryphon Diablo 300: at the top of Integrated Amps?
I would do audition only with analogue source, a good one. Preferably with Reel to Reel deck. Do you have it in Stockholm too?
