Just retired and want to get back to vinyl listening
Music Direct has open box Luxman 550AX for $3.5k, that's $2k off.
Would you sell half your vinyl collection to get great equipment ?
To put classical musicians aside, every artist I heard had only a few best releases. As an example, I wouldn't really need Miles' Dark Magus - Pangaea is similar and much better. Pink Floyd - WYWH is the only album I would need, the rest could go....
Obscure brands worth considering
I'll mention Michael Green Audio controlled resonance speakers. They are not for eveyone, but then again what is ?
Dedicated Outlets - The Latest Recommendations
What about feeding the sytem in totally independent fashion off a generator ? Sorry, if I asked nonsense.
Austin Record Convention
I will maintain the tradition too. Digital is getting better and better, and after all more than half of what I listen to is digital, there is nothing I can do about it. Sometimes I find great performances on youtube recorded with a phone, and the...
Austin Record Convention
While reading this I was thinking what would I buy for $750-$1000 ?There is absolutely nothing  I am aware of ! I could, theoretically speaking, afford one or two records. However, I could buy one or two guaranteed first generation master tape dubs...
Why do better MC cartridges cost a fortune?
analogueseduction.net in the UK appears to be a good place to buy cartridges, many cost less than here. I bought my cartridge there and talked to them before that. They also have some cartridges that I didn't see here, though they still may be sol...

The biggest problem with Ferrari and the likes is not the cost, you need to know how to drive or you are fool and possibly dead real quick. The second problem is that in many areas there is nowhere to drive such a car, even BMW M3 might be too muc...
New Budget phono from Parasound
Anyone compared Parasound phono to Sutherland ? He makes $995 phono, it is supposed to be very good. Then he offers $1400 and $2200 models and further up.
Why do better MC cartridges cost a fortune?
Yes, whatever it is vintage is not for everyone. What about Grado Reference, Soundsmith, Audio Note, Clearaudio, Nagaoka ?Bill, based on your brief description I would've chosen Airtight too, though I do like great pace and dynamics. What I don't ...
PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium Preamplifier. DESTROYS SPEAKERS!!
Still, it's all better than when the fighter jets crash and we are not told the truth. At least 50% of cases its something like bad capacitor, sometimes Chinese. Yeah, let's move on.
Why do better MC cartridges cost a fortune?
Fremer also appears to confirm that turntable, tonearm and phono stage are all far more important than cartridge. Cartridge must be excellent too, of course.
Why do better MC cartridges cost a fortune?
I won't argue, I don't know.Michael Fremer must've upset many people with what he said. Even worse, that table and arm are thought by many to be one of the handful of the very best regardless of price.
Long distance between preamp and power amp
6 meters is not a very long run for an excellent RCA cable. Not a problem. I can speak of older Purist Dominus with full certainty.
Why do better MC cartridges cost a fortune?
Halcro, if you are right it will make me happy, but I would like to hear what other very experienced audiophiles can say. It may also be a problem of defining "better" objectively. As I understand, correct me if I am wrong, no MC can compete with ...
