Accuracy vs. Enjoyment
By the way, speaking of accuracy and clarity vs musicality or in addition to it, it was interesting to compare Purist Audio Neptune fluid and Tchernov Reference interconnects. About the same level. Tchernov are all about clarity and balance, Puris...
Accuracy vs. Enjoyment
Come on, cds are never accurate, a lot of music is simply not there. Or as some might say there is simply no available device outside of pro equipment to get it out. Clarity is a good thing but for me it is not above all.
Jazz for aficionados
orpheus10, this is very far from any jazz, but listen to this simple instrument. It's like a cosmic wind.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5V3y04oHhY
Accuracy vs. Enjoyment
Yeah, this includes as little distortion as possible. It's amazing, provided you have a decent equipment, how much you can achieve with good cables.

orpheus10, sure I do, Japanese pressing. And Casino and Splendido Hotel. But I don't listen to every track on them, I move the needle.
$20k speakers that really impressed you
Then probably for mine too. Besides, I don't have $6k-$7k for speakers now, it will take at least a few years to save on.
I need your help. I have an ARC Ref 3, ARC 110, Vandersteen 5As, but no turntable.
We don't know why go and I don't think that's our business unless asked for this specific advice. But if one goes and has the funds - don't save a few thousands on equipment and records. Original pressings in good condition are often not inexpensi...

Michael Fremer does not like this Technics much, though he didn't exactly call it a stupid turntable. That's the common problem with direct drive turntables.Read.https://www.analogplanet.com/content/technics-direct-drive-sl-1200g-turntable

I guess, audiophiles are hard to impress, $20k speakers are nothing.

Ralph always says direct drive Technics, that's his preference, which is fine. But there are other turntables, you must audition. Simon Yorke, SME and Nottingham are worth listening to. Or maybe you can get Walker, we don't know. Generally speakin...
A History of Ultrasonic Record Cleaning
I see. I think, I wouldn't clean more than once valuable to me records, just in case. It appears that there is no guarantee that there can be no damage even if used correctly.
A History of Ultrasonic Record Cleaning
Whart, maybe you could try to actually damage a few records with the ultrasonic. What would it take or is it possible at all ?
Another amateur in need of advice
This is more complicated and far beyond the scope of this thread.I would say that at this performance level it should be close to even for each of the three active components - source, amp, speakers, unless you plan to upgrade very soon. Speakers ...

Why not if the OP likes Quads ? Only I would get Rega P6 with Exact MM cartridge and next in line Rega integrated with phono. That would be about $1700 more, that's $5600 without cables and power cords.

Old made in England Audiolab integrateds were excellent for the price, one model even had a phono stage. Probably not as good as newer British moderately priced integrateds but you might be able to find one on ebay for $150 or so. I got one in the...
