... what is Settling Time in cables and interconnects...
The phrase " broken-in" doesn't have a nice ring to it. " Burnt-in " is not much better. And they would have to say either of them, or both. Nothing to do with money directly, everything to do with image and stance.Elizabeth called them idiots, Ge...
Power Conditioners: Audioquest Niagara 5000 or Shunyata Denali 6000S
That I think is easy to measure with a simple device. Each piece of equipment will react differently to voltage fluctuations, and of course it will also depend on the degree of fluctuations. My turntable doesn't have much tolerance for it, nor doe...
Power Conditioners: Audioquest Niagara 5000 or Shunyata Denali 6000S
Whatever Lloyd Walker does is at least good. His turntables are among the very best. You mean VPI tonearm cable. If the voltage in your house is unstable you need to stabilize it, just a conditioner won't do it.

They don't want to sell broken - in equipment. It has a bad sound to it. In any case, I would not call idiots those who have no opportunity to defend themselves and I would not teach them how to do commerce. Some manufacturers do burn in what they...
Power Conditioners: Audioquest Niagara 5000 or Shunyata Denali 6000S
For the turntable better approach might be motor controller. I would take Walker Audio not VPI. For the Luxman amp I would buy absolutely nothing to begin with and until it is fully burned in. I would want to evaluate its power supply and determin...
Make Audiogon Great Ahem!
I see virtually no discussions about interesting equipment, often expensive too.And those yellow badges..bad idea.

Purist Audio's fluid cables definitely need at least a few hours to settle after you moved them. Couple of other brands that I have and tried - I heard no difference. But that's my hearing and my system. Still - nothing major, unlike Purist.
How much does vinyl formulation have an influence on overall sound?
Another point is how many plays they will tolerate without significant deterioration. I do treat then with LAST so I may never know.Interesting to compare original US Bitches Brew by Miles Davis and first release Japanese. Japanese vinyl is defini...
HAVE ALL SALES STOPPED ON AUDIOGON ???
I certainly have some funds to buy new but it's not kind of funds to be able to buy what I would want to. Besides, I might be interested in particular older models. As for younger people, quite a number of them do have money, they just mostly spend...
Reel to Reel Tape
Do you think that digital omits more than the tape or adds more than the tape or both ? Whatever that might be.
Missing the forest for the trees
Perfect speaker would be the size of a concert hall to be able to reproduce the sound of a full orchestra. And can you imagine amps to drive them ? And the size of your listening room.
Have you ever downgraded deliberately?
Downsizing and simplifying are totally different. My dream system is reel to reel deck, monoblocks, speakers, and a few cables. Best performance as well.
Curious what people think is the best "value" high end speaker (~5K to 15K)
If you like elegant sound - Lansche. Used, of course.
How are you hearing no difference?
n80, right.
What albums, in your opinion, sound unquestionably better on Vinyl rather than Digital?
Forgot to mention El Camaron/Paco de Lucia analog recordings. They are not good, some pretty bad. Original Spanish cds were very well done.
