Band/artist documentaries. I'm old enough to remember when cocaine was described as a safe recreational drug. What!? You mean it is not!?
Dynaudio focus 360 OP, if I looked at the specs correctly of the amp you are using, they list 100 wpc into 8 ohms? And those speakers are listed as 4 ohm nominal impedance? Does your current amp have any specs listed for what it does into 4 ohms?
Favorite Tribute Albums? Have you heard Aretha Franklin’s cover of Eleanor Rigby? Not until just a few minutes ago, @stuartk , and it is playing agin as I type. I also played it as performed by the Beatles, and I honestly have to say that I prefer the Aretha Frankl...
Band/artist documentaries. If I Leave Here Tomorrow was a pretty good doc film about Lynyrd Skynyrd. Another band whose music I am not really crazy about, but their story fascinated me.
Band/artist documentaries. I watched the Chicago documentary. The amount of cocaine they consumed is astounding. I didn't know much at all about Chicago, and although I only had a passing familiarity with them from the days listening to certain FM stations in the '70s/80...
What do you do when the music’s not speaking to you? Hi there… I can’t play a note but got the music gene from my mother who sang and played the piano. My stepdad was a jazz musician so I got early exposure to jazz which is still my favorite…. Always good to hear from Chriso, the other Shea "brot...
Movie/film suggestions. Dark and grim are accurate descriptors, @nonoise . I was not expecting a happy ending, but that was sort of like what would happen if Stephen King and Cormac McCarthy decided to collaborate on something.
Movie/film suggestions. I can get Antlers for free, @nonoise ; it is queuing up as I type!
Favorite Tribute Albums? How often does a cover truly equal an original performance, let alone surpass it? Not that often, to my ears. I can respect that point of view, @stuartk , and to some extent, although I find covers of songs I am familiar with to be interesting...
Movie/film suggestions. I thought that I had mentioned Fatman (2020) in this thread, but I cannot find it, so just in case I’ll mention it again because Walton Goggins is supposed to be hosting SNL tonight and that made me think of it. Anyway, it is a very dark comedy s...
Band/artist documentaries. Be Here to Love Me and Heartworn Highways-Townes Van Zandt documentaries Absolutely!
Band/artist documentaries. In my old age I am no longer a super big fan of The Eagles, but I really did enjoy the 2 part doc film about them, The History Of The Eagles. I watched the Chicago documentary. The amount of cocaine they consumed is astounding. I am not a hug...
What do you do when the music’s not speaking to you? If you really wanna enjoy music, take the time to learn how to play an instrument and play in a live band because then you’ll REALLY appreciate music at a deeper level. I wonder if @chrisoshea is also a musician?
Favorite Tribute Albums? How often does a cover truly equal an original performance, let alone surpass it? Not that often, to my ears. Emmy Lou Harris is pretty consistently satisfying in this regard but I can’t think of anyone else, off-hand. @stuartk , Linda Ronsta...
Movie/film suggestions. The Holdovers was pretty good. |
