High quality CDs
@rman9    what   @stuartk   said related to the MFSL hybrid SACDs. I actually started listening to them (the red book layer) before I bought my SACD player, and some of them just blew me away due to the sonic quality (not just because I like the ...
Wine, audio, and music. How many of us Aphiles enjoy wine when listening to music?
Yes, while listening to the complete Panera catalog I often need a few glasses of wine to take the edge off of the meth. LOL!  @viridian  how does that work out for you?
High quality CDs
I am not really a fan of classical but I am finding the crop of MFSL hybrids to sound fantastic; unfortunately, I did a search on ebay for MFSL classical SACD and came up empty handed.  However, MFSL does have some classical red book issues out th...

I remember a long time ago tomato juice and beer was sort of popular; I remember it being referred to as a "Montana Mary."  I don't think it tasted anything like a dry sherry, though.

@rooze  @jond  @rooze did you really make tomato wine? The mind truly boggles man. 😋 LOL!  That reminds of of this guy I worked with for a couple of years in Saudi Arabia.  There was a lot of homemade booze and almost everyone made their own ...

@randy-11 I take it that you are now hitting the harder stuff?
A "golden warm" audio memory
@secretguy I was a nomadic airline mechanic (prior to post 9/11) and the Pittsburgh area was where I ran out of energy (in ’91) and my travels ceased. The springs and the falls can be wonderful here. On edit:  I picked up that Cary preamp in t...
“Faithful to the recording”
@tylermunns when I hear what I, personally, would describe as "flabby" bass, the sound I hear makes me think of woofers that have come loose and are just slopping around. We come back to the subjective versus objective descriptors. Not to way lon...
5AR4 rectifier tube question
Thank you to all for suggestions and information.  I have made some notes and I put some 5AR4s on my ebay watch list so that I can find them easier if I decide to pull the trigger.  I also went back to upscale audio and I clicked on a 5AR4 to rad ...
“Faithful to the recording”
@stuartk  I guess what I typed was inaccurate.  Within the last couple of years I did buy two new pieces, a SA10 and a SLP05, and I did read a couple of reviews for both of them.  However, after my last prescription to Stereophile expired over 20 ...
“Faithful to the recording”
@stuartk  maybe that's why I seldom read a review anymore, except to sometimes get specs and prices of something I find interesting.
5AR4 rectifier tube question
@russ69 oops, I forgot about the whole tube hoarding thing. And I wasn’t even thinking about it along those lines; ever since I bought that pre I’ve been considering tube upgrades and a spare rectifier in case the stock one takes a crap, so I wou...
“Faithful to the recording”
I don't necessarily hate them, but a lot of the descriptive terms  become subjective when used to describe sonic qualities.  So they may not mean the same to me as they do to the writer.
“Faithful to the recording”
LOL!  There was a point in my career as a wanna-be-audiophile where that's what I was striving to hear:  "faithful to the recording."  But who knows what that even means?  Often, different sections of the final mix are recorded at different places...
Upgraded McCormack DNA-1 or Dennis Had Inspire SEP?
@isaacc7   thanks.
