A stupid question(s) about power cords
@audphile1 , it is installed connecting my SA10 to the grid and I put 3.5 hours on it tonight.  (in truth, I unplugged my system after I finished up this evening, so is not presently connected.)   I am starting out dabbling my toes in the water wi...
Best Covers
Covers of Springsteen's stuff that I like (I may have mentioned some of them, but they are so good they are worth mentioning twice) :   Steve Earle did an interesting cover of Mr. State Trooper and The Cowboy Junkies did a neat cover of it as well...
Solar flares are here, everyone unplug your dryer!
@immatthewj @laoman well, I am idealistic and naive.... 😊 to say the least. Those are admirable traits, @grislybutter  ; I commend you.
Does Every Track Sound Great on Your System?
@toddalin  , that is not the one I have--my SACD Yellow Brick Road is the SHM single layer.  (tonight I played what would have amounted to the first of two LPs) and maybe it sounded better than the old MFSL red book/maybe it didn't.; it didn't blo...
Solar flares are here, everyone unplug your dryer!
The 1859 Carrington Event knocked out the world-wide telegraph system. The cause was a particularly intense solar storm. Pray that such an intense storm doesn't happen as today's electrical grid remains vulnerable! Just go to Texas, @jasonbourn...
Does Every Track Sound Great on Your System?
I I have a lot of CDs and several SACDs,, and the SQ I hear from them ranges from poor to "I like it" to mind blowingly excellent.
Does Every Track Sound Great on Your System?
Poor recordings sound gritty and raw like they were supposed to I guess.   But they still are enjoyable.    I agree with you that oor recordings sound gritty and raw (the vibe I was getting the other night was bright, shrill and compressed) but...
If you have a nice system why do you really need room treatments?
Treatments consist of corner base traps extending up to the ceiling, a couple absorption panels throughout the room, a 20 x 20 thick wool rug and an assortment of furniture. So I guess treating a room with acoustical panels Will provide a bene...

@immatthewj  You are so funny. Isn't it clear I love attention as well as learning so much wisdom offered by so many talented people who participate on this forum. @emergingsoul  , I wasn't intending to be funny.  For quite some time I thought...
Does Every Track Sound Great on Your System?
@toddalin  , are you referring to the Japanese single layer SACD?  I have that also, but I've only played it once.  For some reason I haven't been too impressed with the single layer imports, but it could be that I wasn't listening to it on a "goo...

I have little hope that this helps you, but I gave it a try. Yes, @grislybutter  , you did try.  But you were correct, it didn't help.
Solar flares are here, everyone unplug your dryer!
@immatthewj ....so, Anything that doesn’t clear the bar nor clear the bottom of the bridge is verboten and sets the path of a purveyor towards perdition? You must be a bright spot in your universe.... BTW....that’s a heavy-handed retort....dial...

my indignation as a decent human about the investment in wars instead of infrastructure  Did you ever stop to consider that perhaps a conversational post within an audio site about solar activity and the possible need to unplug electrical appl...
A stupid question(s) about power cords
I think that there are some subtle sonic changes that can occur without certain listeners (and I include myself) from consciously realizing that the changes are actually occurring.  But I also think that they add up and make for a more pleasurable...
Solar flares are here, everyone unplug your dryer!
@mahgister  , there wasn't anything at all that was the least bit politically polarizing about the OP which was simply pointing out "exceptionally high solar activity" and llightheartedly suggesting people unplug their electrical appliances.  You ...
