Songs From the Wood mfsl gold any good?
Beyond good. Probably one of their best.
Album which you have listened to most?
What a funny topic! My wife and I stayed-up last night just to listen to all time our favourite three. (No, we didn't do it). Somehow each album has fit perfectly with our courtship, raising of two children, and the great triumps and losses that c...
Hello Wadia Again and Agon
I agree with Mattybumpkin. I don't think it's AudioGon's responsibility to keep our threads but many of us would really appreciate having a chance to print them out.
Peter Gabriel....Bad sounding CD's......groan.....
All Peter Gabriel titles were released in Germany (from the Nimbus plant) a year before being released in the U.S. Those German versions have been the best cd versions to this day. I find the remasters to have lost punch and emotion in order to el...
I have a general question about surround sound.
This is like one of those questions about "the best" or "who is right" it's all Apples and Oranges to me. I've kept my stereo system in the ex-family room and placed my surround in the living room with the TV. Multi-channel sacd's can sound phenom...
Best Joni Mitchel Album
#1 "Court and Spark" My German CD pressing somehow still beats my gold DCC and the HDCD versions. Maybe because it's so raw and real?!#2 "The Hissing Of Summer Lawns" Can anyone explain why this hasn't been given THE treatment by anyone?!#3 "For T...
Computer-based digital audio repository system
I am currently in the process of trying to do what you are describing. Additionally, I'm trying to use an external audiophile transport to avoid the "slippery" quality of all PC cd drives I've come up against.I'm feeding the transport via a S/PDIF...
SACD Source recording
Nothing beats the Beck SACD "Sea Change" in the acoustic pop category. All rock on DVD-A is mushey in comparision. No vote on classical yet but Orff is kicking butt.
Guilty Pleasures
Rare Earth "I Just Wanna' Celebrate"Looking Glass "Brandy, You're A Fine Girl"Rufus "Tell Me Somethin' Good"I could go on and on. It's very sad but I enjoy 70's pop. I'm a closet junkie, I only play this stuff loud when the family is asleep.
VPI HW19 MkIII vs. Michell Gyrodec?
Dirtyragamuffin - Sadly, I don't have an answer BUT I pray someone comes to help us with this question. Do you think we'd get a discount for buying two? (ha-ha)
Good Scene to test surrounds
Gladiator is a must if you're 7.1. Arrows shoot from the front center to the rear center. Great rumbling bass in the battle scenes also.
SACD Opinions: Gimmick? Like it? Don't? Why?
All I can say is WOW! The twinkling highs of Beck "Sea Change". The details previously lost and now found in Dylan "Blood On The Tracks". Even the unimprovable Roxy Music "Avalon" has been truly improvedIf you have speakers with crystalline highs,...
Audiophile "PA" System??
What about large studio monitors like the EV Sentry 500's. They're large and have tons of punch. Not for a sit-down but will make you get up. Let me know. I know of a pair in storage.
Inactive speakers in the room...any effect?
I think there's a very large effect. A very large negative effect to the WAF!
Bit o' Nostalgia
My whole life has been "bent" around music. I was lucky enough to be a recording engineer at a high-end studio for five years. Heck, the caption under my class of '80 picture is "Searching For A New Sound". I have tons of songs that bring back mem...
