Tube replacement for Peachtree Decco65 Hi zbiener, sorry for the delayed response. Haven't been on agon in a while...No, I haven't tried any different tubes yet. I suspect I'll go with a Sovtek 6N1P w/ high gain option if I ever decide to play around, since it's cheap and the only 6N1P...
Buzz problem with Linn AV5105 power amp All done! There's definitely a lot more punch to the sound now! ;)The hardest part was getting the PCBs out and back in, not a lot of room maneuver inside the case. Some cleanup of the thermal paste was required as well but other than that, everyt...
Buzz problem with Linn AV5105 power amp Did my research and chose a set of Linn's recommended 6800uF 80V caps. These are Cornell Dubilier 30mm x 50mm and came highly recommended for filter cap replacement. The Nichicons were too big and pricey. Besides, I've read that audio grade caps f...
Buzz problem with Linn AV5105 power amp I have my eye on the Nichicon KG series 10000uF 80V (Gold Tune) caps. I haven't checked the dimensions but I'm fairly confident they'll fit.Saw a post here: http://forums.linn.co.uk/bb/showthread.php?tid=24200&page=2 where Linn recommended rep...
Buzz problem with Linn AV5105 power amp I think you're right Czarivey. Took the amp apart and all 4 of the Elna LP5 10000uF caps are bulging. :(I have no experience recapping, but I guess this is as good an opportunity as any to learn. Much thanks!
Tube replacement for Peachtree Decco65 Thanks Sfar! Ya I haven't noticed a difference at all between having the tube stage on or off. I figured that maybe playing around with different tubes might make an audible difference but I trust your judgement that it probably won't.

Power amp suggestions for Peachtree & Triangle Not sure if anyone is paying attention to this thread anymore, but I just recently bought a used Linn AV 5105 (100W into 8 ohm) for about $500. Injected some life into my system. Nice sounding amp, especially for the price!
Opinion on Linn AV 5105 I paid about $500 for mine and received it on Friday. Having auditioned it for a few days, I really like the sound of it. Injected some much needed power into my system. Works well driving my Triangle Cometes.
Power amp suggestions for Peachtree & Triangle I know this is kind of off topic, but since we've been discussing the use of tone controls, does anyone have experience using room correction processing hardware?
Power amp suggestions for Peachtree & Triangle I "had" a 15W CR Developments Kalypso integrated amp driving a pair of Energy C-3s and the sound was fantastic at low volumes ("had" because the amp is in serious need of repair - no sound and tubes arcing). Never felt the need to turn up the volu...
Power amp suggestions for Peachtree & Triangle I'll be honest, when I heard "tone controls" I threw up in my mouth a little bit...LOL! Unfortunately, I'm satisfied using the Peachtree for its DAC functionality so most likely I'll be keeping it as a pre. I have my MacBook hooked into the USB so...
Power amp suggestions for Peachtree & Triangle The Cary CAD 200 looks like a nice amp. Here's a few others I'm considering:Wyred 4 sound ST-250Quad 909 or QSPBryston 3B STLyngdorf SDA-2175I guess I could also consider Peachtree's 220 power amp but I'm awfully nervous about going over the 200W ...
Peachtree Decco 65 DAC observations Thanks for responses Mapman. I always loved the sound of my Arcam since I bought it new in 1999. What Hi*Fi? Product of the Year Award in 99-00 might have influenced me :)It just disappoints me that I bought this amp to utilize the built-in ESS Sa... |
