Speaker advice for listening to Blues music Cedarblues, I also use a Thor PS10 power conditioner/surge protector with with its supplied proprietaty power board. Every component is plugged into that powerboard. Makes sense to me. It certainly made a positive audible difference. I'd never bot...
Speaker advice for listening to Blues music mate, you will not go wrong with ZU. I have the Soul Superflys and they rock, pardon the pun.Blues is probably 75-80% of my listening choice.I also use Klipschorns and any of the Heritage line from Klipsch will be suitable too.Possibly mentioned, ...
Ultimate power condotioner @lwall22 that's a good story with a probably unexpected great outcome. 18 months ago, I was finally able to move my system from a too large drywalled room into a brick walled smaller room and was instantly amazed at how everything tightened up. Th...
Tubes or stick with S/S I use a few different amps with my Klipschorns, from a 2.5 watt Miniwatt through to a 20 watt Weston Acoustics Troubadour. You won't need more than anything between those numbers with your Cornwalls.
Tubes or stick with S/S Tubes baby! Your ears will thank you.
Difference Between DAC Types I had a Rega DAC which I thought was pretty good but sometimes the treble glare was a real turn off. I now use a Denafrips R2R Pontus DAC, which I find immensely satisfying at all times. Same music and sources, same hardware everywhere. It has to...
Non-Oversampling (NOS) vs, the Denafrips Pontus allows you to change from NOS to OS at the touch of a button.I do change the setting occasionally but always find myself going back to NOS whether the music is served or streamed.
Denafrips Terminator vs. Venus Very happy Pontus owner here!
DAC choices: Exogal v. Schiit v Benchmark v. Denafrips I replaced my Rega DAC with the Denafrips Pontus late last year if you're interested. I have found it to be a really nice, warm sounding DAC, with very balanced sound from top to bottom having plenty of tight bass and a very controlled (but not ro...
Does anyone use wood for vibration control? $3-8 bamboo bread boards/chopping blocks work very well. Bamboo has natural vibration absorption qualities so you can put them on your glass shelf, cabinet top, racks or whatever. The boards even come in different sizes from 8x6" to 20x14" and some...
Super tweeters, are they worthwile? Back in the day, when KEF Concertos were a big deal, I built a pair of KEF Transmission Lines around 1978 which had a super tweeter as the only hardware difference between the two. Having said that, there was a lot of difference in the cabinets bo...
Schiit Bifrost Multibit or Denafrips Ares? I have not heard the Schiit but have owned the Ares which I rate very highly in the areas of sound stage and tonality. The bass went really deep and the treble was nicely rounded without sounding restrained. It was very non-fatiguing and revealed ...
How many audiophiles do you need to change a lightbulb? May the bridges you burn behind you light your way
Which Has Best Sound Quality -- CD vs. Tidal vs. FLAC Uploaded From Burned CD With my Antipodes DS streamer/server, tracks FLAC ripped into it direct from CDs and played back with Roon via my Denafrips Pontus DAC sound marginally better than Tidal streamed through Roon and the Pontus.
A DAC that can make digital sound analog? R2R? Try and have a listen to the Denafrips DACs. I have the Pontus and really rate it for all of the virtues that you’ve mentioned. Good, deep bass, refined treble, lack of digititus and quiet background.Previously, I was using a Rega DAC |
