What speaker could safely be ordered without hearing it first?
I have a small treated music room (14x14) and I bought Magico A3, unheard anywhere prior to. If I could be happier, I’m too ignorant to know it. However, I did attend an equipment show in Dallas last month and didn’t hear anything I wanted to rush...
Just Getting Back Into Audio and Need Help
Soix, I can vouch for what you said about Hegel’s built in DAC. I just got the H590 and its DAC sounds significantly better that the stand alone I had been running, which is a 3,000 unit. I haven’t tried the Hegel streaming device as I’m very plea...
The best speaker cables you’ve had
I’ve tried Blue Jeans, Audio Quest Granite and 1 other inexpensive cable, I cannot recall the name, before upgrading to Audio Sensibility Signature. The Owner said the AS Signature would be the last cable I would ever (want to) buy and I believe h...

Ethernet and USB cables
I started this 2 years ago at the out set of my return to the world of hi-fi as we used to call it, now audiophile. It’s interesting reading the comments since then because it hadn’t popped up in some time. Since then I have upgraded all my cables...
Older Revel vs Newer Magicos
ghdprentice equipment was questionable in my mind until I read some reviews of those with the same amp as mine. It’s only 60 w of power (Pass Int 60) but it’s 30 w of class A before going to A-B. And I’ve got good cabling that were all recently up...
Older Revel vs Newer Magicos
Thanks for that hanki! As you probably know, the S series is a lot more speaker than the A’s and, not insignificantly, price wise. That’s why I was thinking A3. If I bought the S5, even used, I’d probably need a new wife. 😆 However the S3, in prev...
Looking for advise with selecting next integrated amp
I’d have to agree with ghdprentice on the Pass Int 60. I got one 2 years ago used for 6500. That still seems the going rate on the used market. It’s got 30 watts of pure class A, is built to last and will drive most any speaker sized for home use....
What is the current retail cost of your reference system?
I started from scratch two years ago because the system that I bought 45 years ago was stolen within the first year after I bought it. Raising a family and mortgage payments and everything else I didn’t bother to try again until two years ago. Wit...
Whats playing on your system today?

Fleetowner123 Right on. Who else can take a rh guitar, flip it, and get phenomenal sounds from it playing leftie? His style may not suit suit everyone but - that’s talent. Here’s a gem for streamers - Raimundo Almador’s version of Jimi’s Little ...

Thanks again to all! I live in SC where there is no access to audio shows or even any good retail outlets where you can demo components. I’m no spring chicken and since my dynamite system (to me at the time) was stolen in 1978, I was out of the se...

Based on pindac’s comments, my Transfig Atria is already worn out! I got it used from a family member already on the VPI and it’s probably 8 yrs old. He’s an avid listener too. I didn’t know carts had such limited lifespan. However, the lower freq...

I only have 1 expensive record. It is Steely Dan Aja (Cisco) and came from discogs. They were asking 850 for an unopened copy, but I got a used copy, I think they labeled it mint with near mint cover, for 400. I really did it as an experiment to s...

I really appreciate all you guy’s thoughts! Very helpful for me. I admit, my system probably does not warrant a 12k cart based on the cost of the other components. It would be the most expensive piece. But, right or wrong, I’ve heard that it shoul...
