Krell Amplifiers FPB?
I'm not certain of the reason. What I have observed, isthat the newer series is definitely more musical sounding than that bright, forward, steely quality which used to be so typical of Krell products. The midrange and treble of these products is ...
Amplifier with Watt/Puppies 6s
This was not a dealer demo. Rather, a loan of the PS monobblocks to a friend with an existing ML and W/P system. Apologies for the delay in reply.
Most achingly-beautiful music
All of the above are indisputably wonderful pieces, though I do not know much about the jazz and pop items. Three works that I hold very close to my heart are: 1. SCHUBERT String Quintet (D956) - most versions are competent, but the Hollywood Stri...
Amplifier with Watt/Puppies 6s
I don't know if this is valid: I've heard the X-1000 vs the 33Hs lashed up to the W/P 6's using Nordost SPM reference. The 33Hs were very detailed, relaxed and fluid sounding compared to the X-1000's (but base had a little more extension with the ...

Oops, excuse the jumbled last sentence! You get the gist of it, nevertheless.
Spectral digital components
David - seems like you've done your homework and are treading with savvy! Good luck! Mark
Spectral digital components
Excellent - open, airy, a touch too bright, but depends on the type of music. Was seriously considering purchasing it, but had 3 main hesitations: 1) Needs to be used in an all-Spectral system to milk its full potential. 2) Cannot be used with an ...
Dedicated power lines for audio?
Excellent thread! I don't pretend to know much, however. You may want to look at a series of introductory articles on this by Jonathan Scull, available on the STEREOPHILE website under ARCHIVES. Search for FINE TUNES no's 9 thru' 12. If you collec...
Small Speakers w/ Full Range Sound
You do not mention what type of music you listen to. Assuming that you're 'omnivorous', my recommendations would be the JMlabs MiniUtopia's (really authoritative with the JMlabs sub). Also, the B&W 803's (needs a punchy amp to bring out the ba...
Anyone Heard the new Powersnakes?
I am awaiting 3 x King Cobra's for my front-end and 2 x Vipers for my Monoblocks. I ordered them 6 weeks ago and have been told that they will only be mailed this week. Release of the new products was delayed by the late arrival of one of the cord...
Can speaker cables damage amplifiers?
Carl I have not used MIT. Was cautioned not to do so with my system.
Can speaker cables damage amplifiers?
Both Krell and Transparent have assured me that they use Transparent cables and have had no problems regarding oscillation
SACD- Is it the DAC or the Transport ?
Both the DAC and transport have to be upgraded to embrace all formats. Like you, I have been in the same quandary. I have over 3500 CDs. My solution has been the purchase of the dCS Delius (DAC) and Purcell (upsampler) - a very costly outlay! I be...
Dream System. Spectral or Levinson.
All wonderful comments - I'm most impressed by their sincerity and the intelligence of this forum (I do not mean this to be condescending). Even though this can be a mightily expensive hobby, ultimately, I think most people engage in it out of she...
Can speaker cables damage amplifiers?
E-mail response from Krell is that there are no problems using Transparent cables with their amps. Awaiting response from Tansparent, too. Incidentally, I still do not know what is meant by "oscillation".
