Roger Waters remasters?
Oh, I agree completely about Amused to Death being one of the best sounding recordings ever - I have that Sony SBM remaster of Amused to Death and it's one of the best recordings I own.To me the Pros and Cons and Radio KAOS cd's sound a little fla...
Help-Genesis Digital Lens
Use this as an excuse to get a Harmony remote. They're worth the money; I've owned dozens of universals and this is the only one I've ever loved.
why can't I make a digital recording of a DVD?
Maybe the solution is simpler than all that. Do you have the output on your DVD player set to PCM? Maybe the CD player is choking on the Dolby Digital bitstream.
Behringer DEQ2496 - worth using in hi-end system?
How is it as a DAC? Does it simultaneously output from both its analog and digital outputs?By that I mean: I have Denon universal player as my CD transport (with a Dac-AH doing the redbook decoding). I use the Denon's DACs for DVDa and SACD decodi...
Small form factor, budget DACs?
Long-dead thread, but since there was some question as to the difference between the two versions of the DAC-AH (the stock one and Pacific Valve's modded version) I thought I'd let people know that I wrote a review / comparison between the two mod...
decent universal player on beer budget??
I've said it elsewhere, but I'm pretty happy with my Denon 1920 Universal. Does all its jobs nicely, and fits your budget.
HD DVD's
Horseface, I caught a demo of it last week and I'm a lot more interested now.The fidelity is great, but that was expected. All of the little touches are what put it over the top for me - the pop-up menus, the bookmarking functionality, the timelin...
Small form factor, budget DACs?
So, for those curious, I received my modded Dac-Ah and broke it in. All I have to say is, people aren't kidding when they talk this thing up. This is a genuinely musical, dynamic piece. It has a sweet, smooth midrange which does vocals exceptional...
Inexpensive SACD and DVD-A two-channel player?
I'm very happy with my stock Denon 1920. You can grab these for $250 or 300 new on eCost or eBay. It does well for DVD-A and SACD, and makes for a reasonably good transport for redbook. (It also sounds pretty good for redbook - a little forward so...
Small form factor, budget DACs?
Looks like they just updated their website. They've also listed the modded Dac-Ah here on Audiogon.I'll post impressions of the modded Dac-ah when I get it, but I won't have a basis for comparison to the unmodded one. If your order hasn't shipped ...
Small form factor, budget DACs?
Which is to say, it's a new product that just recently became available. When you emailed they didn't yet know they would be carrying them.Sorry meant to put that in my post too, but it got lost in the shuffle.
Small form factor, budget DACs?
Okay, the always quick-to-reply Pacific sent me a clarification on this. Basically the answer is "stay tuned" - they'll be updating their website in a few days to offer these upgraded Dac-Ah's.I'll post my impressions of the upgraded Dac-Ah when I...
Small form factor, budget DACs?
Hmm, I found their upgraded Dac-Ah here, which I found through google - but now that I'm looking closer at their website, they don't link to this page from the index any more so I'm not sure what the story is. I asked them about the availability o...
Small form factor, budget DACs?
Thanks for the tip! Well timed in fact, as I was just mulling over power cord options for it. I just got a custom made power cord for my amp here on Audiogon (from member Synsurd - a definite bargain) and was thinking about new cords for my preamp...
Small form factor, budget DACs?
Thanks everyone for your advice. I decided to take the plunge into a non-os filterless DAC (Pacific Valve Co sells an upgraded Dac-Ah for just $220).I'll post some impressions once it arrives.
