turntable feedback
The floor will flex the least near outside walls, particularly in a corner of 2 outside walls. Unfortunately, this si where airborne sounds will be reinforced the most. I'd say try locating it close to a corner and see what happens.
Anticables Review
It has a lot to do w/ interactions and synergy, I think. On my Pass Aleph 3, the anti cables (actually magent wire I bought and terminated myself) sound a bit thin; MIT T3 sounds much better. Putting AtmaSphere MA1s into the system, the sound is v...
Experts: Why is preamp important?
Yeah, I-don't-know-who either.I would say that running the signal through 2 budget priced preamps is going to do more harm than good. I would even say that running the signal through 2 high end pre-amps will probalby detract noticably fromthe soun...
Clement Perry's new reference speaker
Well, Mrjstark, I think you've explained your point of vfiew a bit more clearly, and I certainly agree with some of the points you are making. We are all entitled to our opinion, whatever that opinion might be. But what gets me the most is, the op...
Experts: Why is preamp important?
My experience has been that pre-amps can make a big difference to the sound of a system, although it seems like it should have afairly easy job. Very few systems really need the additional gain provided by the preamp; in most cases, teh preamp red...
Tung-Sol Reissue 6SN7 vs EH 6SN7 - Differences
I did a similar trial w/ my AtmaSphers MA1s. I had all EH 6SN7s in them for about a year or more. I replaced the 3 middle tubes (considered the most critical, sonically)with TS Reissues. My first impression after letting them burn in for about 20 ...
Clement Perry's new reference speaker
Mrjstark - I'm not in that league either. But I don't expect someone with a lot more money than I do to limit himself to the same equipment that I can afford. If spending $400K gets a much better system, and a person has the $$to do it, I have no ...
Clement Perry's new reference speaker
So what? There are people for whom money is no object, and these products are of interest to them. If you're pulling in a million a year, these speakers are about a month's salary. Many of us would consider spending a month's pay on speakers. Not ...
What would you do?
I'd take a hiatus, then get something really great. One thing I've always thought is we're never satisfied, because we usually make incremental improvements. If we could get the ultimate system all at once, taking one giant leap, it would (hopeful...
Preamps for Atma-Sphere OTL Amplifiers
Mrderrick brings up a good point about the state of your amplifiers. I had my MA-1s upgraded with the Caddock resistors and output resistors, and it was a significant improvement. More natural sounding, less harsh. If you are looking to change to ...
Bel Canto DAC3 vs Theta Gen Viii
How much of a difference do people hear when switching between Jitter Jail and Reclocking on the GenVIII?
It's time for some new music
Try looking for samples on Amazon.com. I have gotten some fairly obscure music there. Or go to a Barnes and Noble and listen on their headsets. I haven't heard of any of those artists.
New Tube Owner
Could have been oxidation on the tube / socket contacts, just like any other connection.
I think my hearing is damaged.
Do you sleep on your right side? It may be fluid (snot?)that flows through your eustachian tubes into your middle ear. A doctor should be able to look into your ear and see if it is infected. Chances are, it will drain out when your cold dries up,...
Why the sudden popularity of 12 inch arms
I was wondering about this, particularly in light of hte fact that my linear tracking Souther (now Clearaudio)seems to have a 3" arm, which slides along parallel to the grooves. It seems like VTA would be all over the place. Watching this arm work...
