Power Cord recommendations for a First Watt SIT3
in the manual for my amp, mr pass clearly states that the amplifier is designed to perform well with the supplied power cable. Why would people want to read the manual, when they have a snake oil preacher telling them what they might miss out o...
Tone arm plug in RCA cable?
Yeah @imhififan My serial number is lot lower, and the PIB is just around the corner (clockwise when looking down.)… other than that, it looks about the same.
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
@judsauce The industry spec is 47K for all cartridges. When you load the cartridge at a lower resistance you are asking it to do more work (produce more power to drive that load). Even though its a tiny amount of power, it will make the cantileve...
Tone arm plug in RCA cable?
@holmz : Please follow the @lewm and other gentleman advise. You don’t need the PIB..   " I need to try a different search engine. "   I think not, what you need is to follow trusty audiophiles that give you " solutions on hand " and stop t...
Tone arm plug in RCA cable?
@pindac my lucidity issue is more with what to search for, or product name examples. Maybe I need to try a different search engine.
Tone arm plug in RCA cable?
@imhififan well right now it is: DIN —> RCA (into the PIB) PIB —> RCA (PIB to Phono stage.) The PIB plugs into the tone arm.   But I am going to a new phono stage. Is there any meaningful sonic advantage in going direct from DIN to...
Why do I need power management if I have a great power cord?
I had another typo It should leave been: “I must be on a roll.” But “I must be one, a troll.” Is at least english; whereas,  “I must be one a roll.” Reads as nonsense.
Grounding cable gauge size
Getting there. I still have to make the silver cables to complete this project and take it for a spin. It's been very difficult to find the time to get this completed. The insides of my boxes are like battery plates. I made a "square" and a "tal...
Why do I need power management if I have a great power cord?
Here you are more right than with your Ferrari metaphor... I must be one a roll.
Why do I need power management if I have a great power cord?
I apologize then but i react to the word "snake oil" in your post... I apologize because sometimes i react  too much to some words..."snake oil" for example associated to pyramidal objects ... 😉 What I actually think cannot be proved by what...
Why do I need power management if I have a great power cord?
@mahgister I was just opining on the topic of ”Why do I need power management if I have a great power cord?” I am not saying that we need, or do not need, Helmholz resonators if we have a power cord. Nor that we need, do not need, a power cord if...
Power Cable Break In - Such a Change!
@ozzy yeah but… I was responding to @jpeters568 question of why can/t it be measured and shown. I provided the simplest way that I would approach it. You are seeming to suggest that the question of @jpeters568 cannot be answered with measurements...
Power Cable Break In - Such a Change!
Both would be ideal.   I could picture a power cord possibly helping with the power amp, but I doubt it would do anything on the preamp or phono stages I have. But I think it is better to sell the power amp, take the money I would piss away on ...
Current Questions
Not to get too technical but in terms of current, since the speaker is a "load" can we not say that the speaker will have a certain current "draw" in order to reproduce the signal being sent? At a specific voltage and frequency, then yes. The d...
Why do I need power management if I have a great power cord?
For me, I have tried different interconnects, speaker cables, power cords, power conditioners. Each has sounded different, for better or worse. So anyone who doesn’t hear any change either has a low fidelity system, or insensitive ears. We can ...
