Vandersteen Speakers.. Are All Other Speaker Makers Doing It Wrong ?
That should be the end of this thread. ^Nice effort^ We could list the ones that have it right. Dunlavy, Quad, Spika, Theil, Vandys (and maybe a few others.) I saw a JBL job that had a stunning step function response, and knowing which are fl...
Vandersteen Speakers.. Are All Other Speaker Makers Doing It Wrong ?
Let's face it, not everyone is sensitive to time and phase correct speakers. Yeah Bob, I am not 100% sure that I am either, but maybe I am…and that is why I ended up with them?
recommendation for phono pre amp and mc cartridge, around 1000$ each
An alternative might be something like a SoundSmith MI cartridge in a higher output? I did end up getting a new phono stage, but I was leaning towards the SoundSmith. ifi also caught my eye.
Power Conditioning - How Important for Digital and Analog Source Components vs Amp?
Yep, all makes sense.  What I was wondering about however, all conditions including "dirtiness" being equal, is which components are more or less impacted by the grade of power cords and conditioning.  Like, is it more important to put the best c...
Vandersteen Speakers.. Are All Other Speaker Makers Doing It Wrong ?
I agree! My speakers are designed for time domain and phase and are not Vandersteen. 😊 Mike   ^nice^ - Theil , Dunlavy, Spika ?   It is hard to claim objective superiority with a speaker that is not able to get the output signal to look ...
Power Cable Break In - Such a Change!
Yeah @ozzy I speared off thinking about the higher freq interconnects and speaker cables.
Power Cable Break In - Such a Change!
Chris knows.  His experiences dovetail with my own.  Teflon is a PITA when it comes to break-in... hours and hours and hours.  Polypropylene is better when it comes to time.  Polyethylene takes less time, yet.  Foamed versions of each are quicker...
Power Cables and Wall Sockets
@jea48 agree. I would certainly not like the lights doing a discotheque, but it does not always guarantee a fire hazard. So it is good to know whether it is normal, but rarer, voltage sag... or a situation such as you’ve pointed out.
Thermal Distortion your loudspeaker most likely suffers from it. But do you care?
+1 @ieales … another #metoo attempt, and this time trying to sneak in panels as a heat stroke sufferer.
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
holmz the compliance issue developed by changes in load impedance already was answered in this thread. Obviously not important for a normal audiophile because does not affects neither the LOMC cartridge frequency response Yeah… Ralph fed me a...
Help! I've got buzzing noise
So no buzzing with other speakers? And the dealer cannot make it work? And the dealer sold you the new speakers? Are the speakers running a ground wire?
Internal biwire question
Math says 100%   Some bananas can stack, so both sets go into the same female terminal at eth speaker. Maybe 99.x with only 1 side.
“Faithful to the recording”
I despise when reviewers use those words in describing a piece of equipment unless they were, quite literally, at the recording. Once those words are used, I pretty much stop reading since IMO the reviewer is full of BS. If they compared the in...
Power Cables and Wall Sockets
I can’t access my internal wiring so I started improvements from the wall socket with Audioquest NRG 15 wall warts and all upper end Audioquest power cables, plus power conditioners. ^this^ and all the majority of the rest of the posts are spea...
Is it worth upgrading my current turntable setup?
As @pindac says: Make a few contacts to see if visits can be arranged to those in possession of devices you have shortlisted and make inroads to see if you able to be offered demonstrations of items. Take along your newly cleaned LP’s and i...
