Building a custom isolation equipment rack My thought would be to drain the energy as effectively as possible. Likely you will appreciate different treatments on different components. I doubt it will be a one size fits all scenario, but wood would not be my first choice for a shelf medium...
Audio Research and Acme Audio Labs fuse WTF man?! Get a grip! It’s $17 dollars! These days, you can barely buy a family pack of toilet paper for $17 dollars! That must be a Freudian slip? Just consider the nay-sayers words as being like the TP. (LTR) Why don't we just defer to @c...
Dirac - worth activating? I have a streamer with dac. Not sure if a mini dsp is possible since it goes between digital source and a dac. It usually goes between the pre-amp and the amp, or the source and the pre-amp. (Best on a higher line level side, rather than a c...
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker? the powered KEF 50 use DSP to correct the passive KEF 50 impulse response...somebody at KEF thought that a worthwhile thing to invest effort into....hmmmmmmmmm.... All the DIRAC like systems doing phase and time correction make for a largely ti...
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker? Ever hear a group of unamplified musicians playing spread apart on a stage...anywhere? No phase or time allignment occurs. Hmmm... Not true... For instance, say a single French horn player is playing a note that has the fundamental in the woofe...
Building a custom isolation equipment rack <EDIT> Tomic was a step ahead.</EDIT> I would suggest that you look a boat panels using fibreglass and end grain balsa. You can lay it up yourself, or just buy it... and then laminate the veneer and damping layers on top/bottom. ...
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker? If I have to pick the most important factor in sounding live it's linearity. Double the input then the output should double. Triple and etc. And it's true in the entire system, not just speakers. I recall Bud Fried's speakers were linear phase an...
Speaker Cable, matching to Harbeth 40.2 I've used 12 gage Duelund ... I like Phineas.
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker? If one defines fidelity as when the output of the acoustical waveform matches what the signal is... Then it seems like it cannot happen to be correct until the time and phase response is correct. All things being equal, it will will not hurt. A l...
Best Speaker Choice for my very "non-audio-friendly" Living Room Headphones?
Audio Research and Acme Audio Labs fuse ebm, I have’nt had a SR Orange fuse but I do have an SR Purple fuse on order and have been using QSA Lightblue and Black fuses from tweek geek. You know it’s really uncool to call a supplier/manufactures products ’Sound(s) like pure junk’. Ha...
Ridiculous assertions that someone is being ripped off or conned I can change the sound of any room with a straw well located , is it a scam? No, Helmholtz science ... Confucious say, "Give straw 'Rhino orn', then it will really 'kick thee bass'."
How do you decide what your next upgrade will be? I have found myself at a crossroads trying to figure out my next upgrade. ^Sounds^ like the opening to, "And I sold my soul". Right now I believe my DAC is my weakest link (by a long shot) How would you go from belief to proof, or some r...
How do you decide what your next upgrade will be? I believe that the room and the speakers are the biggest bang for buck areas. If I have a speaker with 1% distortion, then contemplating moving from an amp with 0.01% THD+N to 0.001% THD+N is not going to be easily heard. But usually I just get ...
Is digital optical audio worth it? How does it sound now? If it has a gourd loop hum, then optical is a sensible option... but it will not likely change between optical, USB etc unless there is a glaring problem. |
