Science that explains why we hear differences in cables?
“CEO/Designer Jeffrey Smith is a Wyoming native and a graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering. He also earned a Master of Science Degree, With Distinction, in Defense and Strategic Stud...
How to tame a bright system?
@Millercarbon Yes it is copy past because I stated "Its One of the solutions" in this case https://mathaudio.com/room-eq.htm. https://mathaudio.com/testimonials.htm I could have taken the same point from other solutions like Dirac, Lyngdorf ,...
Dirac - worth activating?
Their website talks about the Dirac delta function, and transfer functions to undue the colouration of the system. I am pretty sure it is similar to the modem channel correction that fred harris (of Blackman-Harris fame) did many years ago.
How to tame a bright system?
A DSP would be another option, but that assumes that the speakers (tweeters) do not have a lot of distortions that are creating the effect of brightness. One can certainly get the frequency response shaped however they want with a DSP. Or sell t...
Position of speaker cables and irregular behavior
Well done!
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker?
The last paragraph in the stereophile review of the meridian dsp 8000 JA asks why the speaker wasn’t time aligned since they could basically do it for free and the reply was that specific xover design sounded better without it. The new dsp 8k’s a...
Should I redo the AC power in my house?
Was there a problem that the OP had? Or was it just upgrade for upgrade sake?
Position of speaker cables and irregular behavior
Keep going @jacksky … Did you swap the RCAs feeding the amps yet? …and then have you plugging an iPhone into the RCAs as a source?
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker?
@mijostyn lets say we have two wide band speakers. And we time align them in the 10-20kHz region. One has a 12dB/octave HPF slope at 2.5 kHz. The other has a 24 dB/octave slope also at 2.5 kHz. The phase between those two will look different in ...
Turntable versus tonearm versus cartridge: which is MOST important?
Here is a sure shot:
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker?
@mijostyn I would like to be a Buddhist, but that is about as far as I got. But I do know enough to know that snarkiness is not a positive attribute. I am pretty sure that the phase is usually more critical with bass than timing. Our ears and br...
Position of speaker cables and irregular behavior
+1 for @ghdprentice  It is not the speaker… It is not the cable. It is the source or the RCAs. (Sounds exactly like when I had a problem a few months ago.)
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker?
I suppose if someone in Washington state or Alabama had a set of Thiels then they could be tested on a Klipple. Then would have something objectively interesting.
New Set Up
The OP has been quiet, we need to Peng them for an update.
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker?
Little snarky there holmz...I was referring to the sound of multiple musicians playing the same music with space between them. I attend concerts I don’t mix, and ones I do mix I listen to unamplified sound from various areas during sound check in...
