Good old days Reminder to my future self - when I get to a point of four word unhelpful forum replies, this will be my signal to stop monitoring this site and bail out for sure. Or find the mouth of an open volcano.
Good old days @ebm Pack it in ASAP. Perhaps good advice for some posters, here. Don't take it too personally, though! You're always contributing the best advice! Keep it up, buddy! Everyone loves your comments!
Good old days Of the speakers I have heard that were simple, engaging, inviting, and non-analytical, nothing has really beat Fritz's Carbon 7 SE Mk. II It is not his most expensive speaker, but there was something it did that just pushed past audiophile think...
Absorption, Diffusion or a combination of it all? Both, is typically the answer. Diffusion - and even deflection - has been the greatest help for my system, once the bass was tamed (with absorption).
GR Research/ Jays iyagi speaker cable blind test It's so fun to watch these watch these different types of influencers try to hype one another's brand with pseudo-scientific games.
Good old days First, I want to applaud you for posting about this issue. It's a vulnerable topic to post about, and given some of the replies that emerge on this forum, you take risks in order to hear from others. Bravo. As you know, given your education, most...
Describe the "new HiFi sound"? There are really two different discussions happening here. I'm still thinking about "musical" and not "new hifi sound." That said... Case in point: my new speakers are much more revealing, have more air, ambience and room/studio presence in the...
Describe the "new HiFi sound"? About "musical." Language can be used in all kinds of ways, so I will remain open to uses of "musical." The logical part of my brain cannot stop hearing the "beg the question" fallacy in the use of the word. Wikipedia: To "beg the question" (...
Integrated Amp Shopping Decisions I have the Adcom 535L, also. It in storage but it's a sweet amp. If you were curious about a detour, I bet a nice 6SN7 preamp with the Adcom would sound sweet. I've tried that combo and it's quite good.
Speakers and amplifiers show audiophiles are confused. A Forum Poster Creates a Trolling Headline to Generate a Thread ...and people answer seriously.
Memory foam as bass treatment? @ethan_winer You are most welcome -- and to everyone else, I want to add that I inherited 14 different acoustic unit treatments, including GIK corner units and 2x4 foot traps. They all promised bass absorption but I still was not able to tame the...
un-becoming an audiophile @johnk Audiophiles are entry-level. You can grow out of it and see the light.Audiophiles are entry-level. You can grow out of it and see the light. Way to lump everyone together so you can tell them what to do.
The River Alph Agree with @timlub I found that measuring the room with a mic revealed a number of issues with bass for which the subs supplied indispensable help.
Memory foam as bass treatment? In my experience, Real Traps was far better than GIK. @ethan_winer was enormous help with placement and determining the right number for my room.
Cayin CS-55a integrated... which speakers? I paired a similar tube setup with Fritz speakers, and Fritz remarked to me once that Cayin worked really well with his. You might ask him about a home trial. |
