Efficient speakers -- What was your journey from A to B to ?
@jonwolfpell Thanks for your experiences. It's helpful to hear how things change. @deep_333  One would be surprised how little power the "supposedly inefficient" ear candy speakers actually use at deafness inducing spl levels. I'm not ignoran...
Why Music Is Good For The Brain
@noromance I understand "brain" as a scientific model, a mockup for explanatory and predictive purposes -- a reduction, or better, a neuroreductionism. I'm more convinced that what we term the "mind" emerges from interaction among brain, yes, but ...
Why Music Is Good For The Brain
I hate it when people talk about the "brain" in order to make an argument about the our minds, personalities, moods, etc. It's a way of argument-by-physiology and if you talk to genuine neuroscientists (as I do) they will tell you what bunk it is.

@ditusa I've read about this distinction before, but obviously it didn't take! You can tell this is out of my area! I appreciate the reminders and the links. Thank you!
Is toeing speakers a bad idea?

Single input tube preamp
@mashif  In my search I came across the Quicksilver Line Stage preamp. This is an excellent preamp. I owned this for a while and it's reliable, sounds great. I wanted to move on from it because I heard preamps based around the 6SN7 tube and I l...
Another post about a streamer upgrade
@2psyop  IMO the two most important factors in sound quality with regard to streaming has been the quality of the external DAC I have used and the quality of the original recording being streamed.  This strikes me as correct. Many people tout ...

@ozzy62 Thanks. You're surely right those details matter more with horns. I wonder as @doyle3433 points out whether the Volti is more forgiving/flexible than the Klipsch (modern versions -- good point you made about that, too).
Building a dedicated listening room
Once you figure out the room, learn REW.
Efficient speakers -- What was your journey from A to B to ?
@trivema The Klipsch I’ve heard have sounded a bit shouty and harsh. I bet this was due to (a) poor synergy between speaker and amp(s) and likely (b) lack of good room acoustics. I am hoping my next speaker adventure does not immediately launc...

@decooney +1000 on that question!
Single input tube preamp
There's an LTA Microzotl with two input tubes on USAM in your price range, and it comes with a linear power supply. The seller seems to have a great reputation. (I am not him/her.) That might be your answer. Very solid and well regarded product.
