That's good to hear. There's so much advice out there about proportions, but my goal was to spend enough on well researched products but keep in mind I didn't want to wind up with, say, 10% left for speakers.

How about a word or two on your impressions ... per component perhaps or a quality (combined components) that the system conveys.I know that you have done some reviews ... maybe a comment on expectations vs realization. For one I would like to hear...

JD the CXC does what it should and I've not driven it too hard. Good value if you don't pay highest MSRP
Tube rolling with Quicksilver Mono 60s -- from KT77 to KT88? KT 120? etc.
I see. I listed the tubes my amp can handle, that's why I'm asking.

I'm actually driving across the country watching videos about REW software and hoe to build those panels. Appreciate the suggestion, Doug!

The wood is burly maple. No turntable because I've been there, done that, and don't need another rabbit hole.

My pleasure to share.  I have been thinking about the front wall and have hung a carpet on the wall but without much effect. In this room, the ceiling is very low, 6.5 feet. I aim to continue doing measurements and treat that, first.

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems like you are saying to consider the preamp as an important factor. I agree.

@glowworm -- harsh highs with GL 88? Whoa. I don't need that. Not just to play around.

@tvad There's no way I'd spend more than $250 on this quad. I'd buy the re-issue not NOS.

Great advice. I'll  try really good KT88s, not sure how they'll change things but they're a basic tube and my stock JJ's are not really that good, so I'll just rotate between them and the KT77's.No one has said a word about KT90s....
Is it better to have two matched subs or one
@elliot Thanks for that helpful post. One additional element of my setup with REL is that these are high-level inputs. Possible difference there, re: Left/Right?

Thanks, Table jockey. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks, oldhvy. I got good advice from decooney and Brent Jessee. The JJ in power position were broken in. Yes, I did have the good signal valves in with the JJ.And remember--I don't have JJ's in now. I...
