Recommendations for good sounding streamer
Given how good their DACs sound, I'd be curious about the HoloAudio streamer:
Amazon music vs Qobuz
I've tried both. I prefer Qobuz because the songs each provide information (limited) about who is on each track. I also like the recommendations from Qobuz, especially for classical and jazz. Amazon already gets enough of my money. It's hard to f...
Advice? Less than $4k, solid state preamp, neutral to gentle
@tomcarr Thanks for the additional info. @liquidsound The XP-12 appeals to me in part because I really really like the XA-25 already. Not that Ayre would be a bad match, but perhaps a Pass-Pass match is a special one...
Best Amps for Magneplanar 1.7i Speakers

Question to those believing in speaker break in
OP, to answer your question: When I was auditioning speakers, I needed them to break in quickly so I could maximize the trial period. 1-2" apart reverse polarity playing brown noise around 90 db covered with a thick blanket played them for a...
Thought I’d share: Nicely done and practical DAC review
I like Darko a lot. One problem with all reviews, for me, is that the products keep coming and they must say something about them. But while audio evolves, it doesn’t evolve that fast. Many products that don’t change much and are just echoes of o...
Ditching Class A Amps due to Heat - Sort of a Poll
@zufan  You wrote,  Somehow Biden is involved in Class A discussions. Indeed. Sort of Tourette's syndrome -- how he lives rent free in the coconut shells of creatures unable to control their distemper.
Hi-end audio is a big zero
Don't know where you live, but I have at least 4 very good audio dealers near me that set up decently and allow long listening sessions. In addition, there's Crutchfield -- 60 day trials -- and Audio Advisor 30 day trials -- and Music Direct 60 da...
Where to put your best power cable?
This reminds me of this conversation:
Ditching Class A Amps due to Heat - Sort of a Poll
I listen in my basement. It is never ever a problem.
Amplifier Recommendation for Spendor D9.2 Speakers
I'll be curious, too, to hear reports. Spendor's literature indicates that this speaker has an impedance of 8 ohms (min 4.6) with recommended amplifier power of 25-250 watts. That leaves the field wide open!

@tomcarr In what ways was the Pre90 different than the Schiit Freya?
Combination streamer and music server…without DAC
@whart  You don't see Ralph, Duke or others shilling their products aimlessly; far from it, they weigh in with knowledge and advice, without looking to "sell" their wares. Agreed. Nor do they contact you via private message to let you know abo...
Combination streamer and music server…without DAC
It would be nice if other dealers beside @audiotroy also posted. Seeing a discussion or civil debate between dealers might provide information that doesn't come out when only a single dealer posts. As for the comment to soix,  Yet, you have not...

Thanks all, for the further suggestions and especially to @lanx0003 for the advice. Yes, matching the amp and preamp will be important -- I've done that matching before and it would be a necessary criterion applied to any short list of options.
