Why is it that every time, lately, that I'm interested in a thread...
I just got a thread deleted! It was on someone who likes to post about speakers but I dare not say their name lest it doom this thread to extinction.

@antigrunge2  Honestly, politics should not come into any discussion of audio equipment. I agree with this, but I'm curious to hear your reasons as to why this is true.

@2psyop Nice! I think we have a creative new genre, here: The Ways Audiogon Threads Go Wrong. Or, Threads Gone Wild. Here's another iteration (from a while back but still in living memory): OP: I'm looking to get some isolation for some componen...

It's because nearly any mention of politics in connection with subject matters triggers someone who says something ridiculous and then there's a food fight and then the thread is shut down. Here's a template: These speakers are good. They're ma...
Help me make sense of this - Midfi system sounding better hifi.
I did a little reading about the two speakers; from what I can see from the Stereophile measurements, the B&W are hard to drive; you seem to have enough power for them, but my best guess is that the synergy with the older Klipsch is superior t...
Why is so much music recorded out of key?
Here's some information.
Audioquest Niagara 1200
Some hear differences, some don’t. If we don’t know basic facts about the electrical system (noise, etc.) and the audio systems being used, how can any comparative judgments be valid? The time spent writing and thinking about this seems like it w...
Sad to hear the good people at Timbernation had a fire (and no insurance).
This is unfortunate, but it's ridiculous to beat up on working class folks who are just trying to practice their craft and make an honest living. Meanwhile, we all subsidize expensive homes in flood and hurricane areas. That's where the outrage be...
How do you know when your capacitors need replacing on a vintage SS amp?

Speakers that are good with tubes
@jond I must have missed the part where he said the amps were 350 wpc. If I had know that, I would have skipped this thread altogether.
Speakers that are good with tubes
@carlsbad I have some buddies here in Denver area with that low-watt, high efficiency approach. It’s pretty magical, and I’m tempted, myself. But that’s a much more difficult path for me at the moment, as it would require getting rid of all my amp...
Speakers that are good with tubes
@carlsbad @charles1dad It does seem like transformers are a bit far away from the OP’s question. I went there because there was an assumption that a fairly narrow range of speakers are tube-amp friendly. What I think has been established is th...

+1 @phasemonger  Even if you want to upgrade, fix them first.
Speakers that are good with tubes
I’ve heard from amp builders and others how important transformer size and quality are for delivering speaker performance. No one’s mentioned it yet, and I am not finding a definitive source on the web, but these two are both decent. https://www....
