@yogiboy  Thanks for the heads up!  I just set my Tivo to record its next showing.
Genalex GL GZ-34 Rectifier...Did I just get a bad one? Five months seems
@wolf_garcia   Good to hear that Gold Lion GZ34 has been working well for you.  I am not, by the way claiming anything mystical about cryogenic treatment.  Once I stopped using NOS Mullards that got noisy quickly in my circuit, I happened to try t...
Genalex GL GZ-34 Rectifier...Did I just get a bad one? Five months seems
@artemus_5   In light of the fact that you only had the GL tube for 5 months, I think Ron at Cryoset would like to know about the tube's failure and may work with you on a replacement.  Can't hurt to call and see what he says! Please update after y...
Shahinian Obelisk vs VandersteenTreo
One thing to be aware of, Vandersteen matches their drivers within the speaker pair.  One thing to check.  Is that driver tightly screwed into the front baffle?
Genalex GL GZ-34 Rectifier...Did I just get a bad one? Five months seems
@artemus_5  I leave all of my components charged up 24/7.  I have tubes in my line stage, SACD player and SACD player power supply.
Genalex GL GZ-34 Rectifier...Did I just get a bad one? Five months seems
@artemus_5  Good point about the thermal issues with a hot running rectifier.  I leave my system on 24/7 so there is no thermal shock experienced by the tube.

@artemus_5 You didn’t mention where you sourced your Gold Lion from. I have had great success with Gold Lions sourced from Cryoset. I have been using their 12AU7’s for many years with great results and long life. I just recently replaced the 5AR4 ...
Interested in Members' Experiences with Rectifier Tube Rolling in Modwright PS 9.0 and 9.9
The original Sovtek 5AR4 failed catastrophically and took out a couple resistors requiring me to send my 9.0 back to Modwright so Dan could fix it.According to Dan, my event was unique provoking him to alter the 9.0 circuit so if I ever suffered a...
For tube sound, which is more important: preamp or power amp?
@wolf_garcia  +1 about the Gold Lions.  I have two 12AU7s in my line stage and a GZ34 rectifier in my SACD player's outboard power supply.  Have you ever checked into sourcing them from Cryoset?  Ron Sheldon's GL's seem to last a long time and sta...
The midrange is the most important driver.
@kalali   Exactly!!  As a long time and current Vandersteen owner, you will scarcely hear a man as passionate about that very issue as Richard Vandersteen is.  All of his speakers have employed first order crossovers as he finds that strategy the ...
Opinions on Various McCormack amps
Thanks for chiming in on that swampwalker!  I suspected the revised amps to be superior to the production units as Steve had explained the limitations he was under with the production units to hit specific price points.  I believe, that was in lar...
Opinions on Various McCormack amps
@nickwin   If I were you I would just call SMc Audio and talk to Steve McCormack.  He's a very nice guy to talk to and should be able to supply you with accurate information.  Their # is 760-732-0352.Good Luck!
Opinions on Various McCormack amps
I have a DNA-1 with Revision A+.  At the time SMc Audio performed the revisions, the Rev. A+ was the top level of revision.  The Rev. B was a lower level of modification.  I would assume the current Signature upgrades are a step up from what I have.
Vibration isolation
@kennythekey   Good post.  If you still have the subs and they are spiked, have you considered decoupling the subs from the suspended wood floor.  This should significantly reduce the subs. sonic vibration getting through to your equipment.I have ...
Vibration isolation
@ptrck887 As far as I can tell you are right on track. I use a combination of Herbie’s Tenderfeet and Firm Tenderfeet under all of my components. Just as you stated earlier, they reveal the best overall sound. Detail with good soundstaging without...
