Since this version is not a Mk II I would just walk away and keep your $$$ in your pocket.  However, if it was a Mk II with the factory Power Boss power supply upgrade then I would enthusiastically recommend a complete rehab...
If Steely Dan had a different vocalist
Speaking of Steely Dan vocalists....whatever happened to David Palmer?  He was sacked after Can't Buy A Thrill...
What are/were the best sounding cheap components you have ever had?
All of the vintage CD players equipped with the Philips TDA1541A DAC that I’ve owned: 3 Magnavox models (all gifted to appreciative non-audiophool friends) and the Philips CD40 I have now. Honorable Mention goes to the Sumiko Blue Point Special an...
what’s a song cover that you think is better than the original?
I've always preferred Gladys Knight & The Pips take on "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" to the better-known versions by CCR and Marvin Gaye. More funk-ified.
$5K KUZMA TONEARM FOR ONLY $690! Gryphon Diablo for Only $699!
It’s getting worse. Lately on-average I report 5-6 scam ads per night. 100% of those ads are from new ’members’ that joined the site on the same day as they placed the ad. Many offer free shipping and the asking prices are ridiculously low. Most a...
Does Anyone Else Member the Golden Age of Audio Insults and Product Degradation?
Wow 39 responses....and no "McIntrash"? Glad I could help ;-)
After years of separates, I'm going integrated. Anyone else do the same?
I finished assembling my one & only component system nearly 22 years ago. Transport>DAC>Pre>Amp>Speakers. The end result sounded fine to these ears and actually exceeded my expectations but I was unmoved. What was missing? Immediac...
China built tube amps
@sns I could save some $$$ and buy a programmable remote but that’s not how I roll. Besides if I ever decide to sell the CDP I’ll need the OEM remote in working condition. @runwell The open/close button on the remote still works so it’s not the...
China built tube amps
Too funny! A month ago I had the same conversation with that guy via email when I tried to source a new remote control for my Line Magnetic 515CD. His response: "Sorry to hear that you’re having all these problems. These brands from China are sim...
Can I use 24 gauge speaker cable?
Quote: "I even think I’m the last one to laugh, as there are seriously people who believe their system will sound like a Grand Opera House because they spent literally tens of thousands of dollars on a couple of feet of cable, putting them on tiny...
to my friends of AudiogoN,
I think that was it.  One & done.  The OP has left the building.Hope I'm wrong.
The midi range, not the tweeter, is the most important driver in a speaker.
J. Gordon Holt said it first and best: "If the midrange isn't right then nothing else matters."You tell 'em Gordo.  RIP.
Robert Hunter unfortunately has died
Isn't it always unfortunate when someone dies?
Metal cabinet speakers
TAG McLaren Calliopes are made of aluminum alloy and they pre-dated Krells’ LAT Series by several years. I think they were really onto something but it was all for naught. I have a pair of Calliopes and I feel fortunate to own them; probably one o...
Good FM tuner for around $1K
Very rare on the used market but if you can find a TAG McLaren T32R grab it. The original MSRP was $2500.00. The circuit is based on the famous Audiolab 8000T but tweaked to the max and updated to DAB standards with numerous convenience features a...
